ENhANCING AdhESION ACROSS ThE pApER ANd pACkAGING INdUSTRY With VINNAPAS ® dispersions, WACKER ensures first-rate adhesion for a wide range of paper and packaging products. VINNAPAS ® PVAc homopolymers and VAE copolymers are especially suitable for formulating paper and packaging adhesives due to a range of properties that include: strong adhesion on cellulosic surfaces paired with excellent heat resistance, high setting speeds and high formulation versatility. Typical applications are folded boxes, paper bags, paper lamination, tube winding, and bookbinding. High Adhesion The excellent adhesiveness of VINNAPAS ® VAE dispersions makes them an ideal base for adhesives for a variety of difficult surfaces within paper and packaging. Examples of these include envelope windows, folded boxes or film lamination on paper. VINNAPAS ® EP 8010, with its especially broad adhesion profile combined with excellent heat resistance, is particularly advantageous in this area. Food Safety Thanks to their copolymer composition, VAE dispersions enable the formulation of plasticizer-free paper and packaging adhesives with low migration potential – supporting our customers so they can comply with European legislation for food contact materials. 16 Machinability VINNAPAS ® VAE dispersions are suited to a broad range of paper and packaging adhesives for all types of application technologies. VINNAPAS ® EP 441 is especially versatile due its compatibility with both roller and nozzle technology. VINNAPAS ® EP 441 demonstrates a good adhesion/cohesion balance and cleanability, a high setting speed, enhanced machine processing and excellent nozzle application performance.
Envelopes The styles and uses of envelopes have grown dramatically from just paper to include other specialized substrates. With such materials, VINNAPAS ® dispersions are vital to manufacturing envelopes and making sure that they stay together. Folded boxes VINNAPAS ® dispersions offer the strong adhesion/cohesion balance, low temperature flexibility, good wetting and setting speed necessary to make these packaging applications possible. Bags VINNAPAS ® VAE dispersions offer adhesives manufacturers the necessary balance of setting speed, adhesion, heat resistance and strength for complex multi wall bags. Bookbinding VINNAPAS ® dispersions offer the balance of adhesive and cohesive strength necessary, along with great flexibility and required rheological properties. 17
