Never<strong>the</strong>less, it is <strong>of</strong> primary importance to point out that this <strong>behaviour</strong> was<br />

encountered also in <strong>the</strong> specimens without <strong>the</strong> horizontal steel plates. Therefore,<br />

<strong>the</strong> plastic hinges form at <strong>the</strong> four joint corners where <strong>the</strong> shear forces have to be<br />

transferred, regardless <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> presence <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> stiffeners.<br />
