5. SEISMIC BEHAVIOUR OF RC COLUMNS EMBEDDING STEEL PROFILES<br />

University <strong>of</strong> Trento. It is important to <strong>high</strong>light that <strong>the</strong> terms C1, C2 <strong>and</strong> C3 are<br />

essentially three different configurations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> steel pr<strong>of</strong>ile, that will be used during<br />

<strong>the</strong> test; in detail, C1 is <strong>the</strong> configuration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> specimen with <strong>the</strong> steel pr<strong>of</strong>ile<br />

extended beyond <strong>the</strong> depth <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> beam; C2 is <strong>the</strong> configuration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> specimen<br />

with <strong>the</strong> steel pr<strong>of</strong>ile at <strong>the</strong> level <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> depth <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> beam (not used in Trento); <strong>and</strong><br />

C3 is <strong>the</strong> configuration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> specimen with a short steel pr<strong>of</strong>ile in <strong>the</strong> critical<br />

length <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> column.<br />

For each specimen 2 cubes <strong>and</strong> 1 cylinder are necessary:<br />

2 cubes for compressive strength <strong>the</strong> day <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> test<br />

1 cylinder for tensile strength <strong>and</strong> modulus <strong>of</strong> elasticity <strong>the</strong> day <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> test<br />

Moreover additional cubes <strong>and</strong> cylinders are made to obtain:<br />

1 cubes for compressive strength at 1 day<br />

1 cubes for compressive strength at 3 days<br />

1 cubes for compressive strength at 7 days<br />

1 cubes for compressive strength at 14 days<br />

1 cubes for compressive strength at 28 days<br />

1 cylinder for tensile strength <strong>and</strong> modulus <strong>of</strong> elasticity at 14 days
