Figure 4.20) <strong>and</strong> strain gauges were positioned in order to investigate <strong>the</strong> transfer<br />

mechanisms from <strong>the</strong> composite beam to <strong>the</strong> column; in detail <strong>the</strong> shear<br />

deformation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> web panel <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> strain distribution in <strong>the</strong> concrete slab <strong>and</strong> in<br />

<strong>the</strong> reinforcing bars were well monitored.<br />

4.8.2 Specimen <strong>behaviour</strong> <strong>and</strong> test results<br />

The test results <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> four specimens are shown as load-deformation<br />

relationships. The number <strong>of</strong> peaks indicates <strong>the</strong> cycle numbers. The hysteresis<br />

diagrams, characterizing <strong>the</strong> overall <strong>behaviour</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> specimen <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>behaviour</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> its components, are as follows:<br />

• M-φ hysteresis diagram <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> overall <strong>behaviour</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> specimen;<br />

• M-θ hysteresis diagram <strong>of</strong> composite beam connection rotation;<br />

• V-γ hysteresis diagram <strong>of</strong> web panel zone distortion.<br />

For this specimen both <strong>the</strong> monotonic <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> cyclic test were performed. In <strong>the</strong><br />

following Figure 4.21, Figure 4.22 <strong>and</strong> Figure 4.23 <strong>the</strong> moment vs. plastic rotation<br />

<strong>of</strong> a beam-column assembly, <strong>the</strong> moment vs. plastic rotation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> composite<br />

beam connection <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> shear vs. plastic distortion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> column web panel are<br />

shown.
