4. SEISMIC RESPONSE OF PARTIAL-STRENGTH COMPOSITE JOINTS<br />

foundations by means <strong>of</strong> 6 anchor bolts made with φ 32 hooked reinforcing steel<br />

bars with <strong>the</strong>ir upper ends being threaded. A 150 mm long stub made <strong>of</strong> a HEB140<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>ile is welded under <strong>the</strong> base plate to transfer <strong>the</strong> horizontal shear to <strong>the</strong><br />

foundation in <strong>the</strong> direction parallel to <strong>the</strong> loading. Base plate stiffeners are installed<br />

on each side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> columns to improve fixity about <strong>the</strong> column strong axis. They<br />

are made <strong>of</strong> 12 mm thick plates that extend over a height <strong>of</strong> 250 mm. The distance<br />

between <strong>the</strong> underside <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> base plate <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> top <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first floor slab is 3500<br />
