The Helianthus multiflorus, a native <strong>of</strong> North-America, is<br />
ahardy perennial herbaceous plant, arifing ufually tp the height<br />
<strong>of</strong> five or fix feet, and producing a great number pf large<br />
yellow fhewy bl<strong>of</strong>Toms, which renders it a fu.itable plant to<br />
ornament the fhrubbery or garden <strong>of</strong> large extent; the variety<br />
with double flowers is the one m<strong>of</strong>t commonly cultivated, and<br />
this we find in alm<strong>of</strong>t every garden: it (lowers frpm July tp<br />
September, and is propagated by parting its ropts in autumn.<br />
This is a hardy plant, <strong>of</strong> ready growth, will bear the fmoke<br />
<strong>of</strong> London better than many others; if it continues in the<br />
fame fpot for a great number <strong>of</strong> years, the blpffpms are apt<br />
to become fingle.<br />
