Meditation, and the relaxation response) extrinsic energy therapies for
CVD do not represent conceptual or reported issues of patient safety.
Small clinical trials of mediation, yoga, and the relaxation response have
noted small but significant reductions in systolic and diastolic blood
pressures in subjects with hypertension, suggesting a role for their use
in appropriate subjects.
Animal studies and select small noncontrolled studies in humans
indicate a possible future role for EM, sound, and laser energy therapies
for CVD. Selected studies, as noted previously, are intriguing but do not
yet form the basis for contemporary clinical use of these therapies in
humans.
