simplification. Some of these improved process
conditions are included on a mobile pilot unit being
currently tested for determination of process
economics by on-site testing.
The utilization of the Brayton Cycle Heat Pump
as a low temperature condenser in conjunction with
various dry concentrator steps is a very economical,
low energy requiring, pollution control methodology.
The process is suitable for the control and
recovery of low boiling point CFCs, water miscible
solvents (without requiring distillation) and of
compounds which, due to partial decomposition,
would normally generate corrosive compounds.
The latest process demonstration project by
DOE, EPRI, Southern California Edison, 3M and NUCON
co-funding (5), resulted in site testing of the
process for various pollution control applications
in the southern California area. Several
successful non-government funded industrial
applications which will generate further application
data are under construction.
