ADMINISTRATION<br />

Dr. Debra Lane will serve as Principal <strong>for</strong> the Elementary School community at the Puxi campus.<br />

Debra has 12 years <strong>of</strong> administrative experience. She joins us from her current role as the<br />

Elementary Principal <strong>of</strong> the Rolling Valley Elementary School in Fairfax County, Virginia which is<br />

widely considered as one <strong>of</strong> the top public school districts in the United States. Debra taught <strong>for</strong><br />

seven years in Virginia and the Dominican Republic prior to becoming an administrator. Debra<br />

earned her Doctorate <strong>of</strong> Education in 2007 from the University <strong>of</strong> Virginia. She has two Master’s<br />

degrees. One is in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University<br />

and the other in Administration and Supervision from George Mason University, Fairfax. Debra is<br />

also an adjunct pr<strong>of</strong>essor at both George Mason University and the University <strong>of</strong> Virginia. Debra also<br />

earned her Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Education in Baylor University, Waco, Texas. She has been a<br />

presenter at state and international conferences.<br />

Debra will be joined by her husband, Steve, who is an experienced and pr<strong>of</strong>essional writer and editor<br />

and more recently an administrator <strong>of</strong> a nonpr<strong>of</strong>it medical education association and her two<br />

children, Alex who will be entering grade 6 and Miles, who will be entering grade 4.<br />

JEFF ROSEN<br />

Dr. Jeff Rosen will serve as Principal <strong>for</strong> the Middle School community at the Pudong campus. He<br />

assumed the role <strong>of</strong> Middle School Vice Principal at the <strong>Shanghai</strong> American School in Pudong in 2007<br />

and has contributed significantly to the growth and development <strong>of</strong> SAS during the past 6 years.<br />

During his term, he was involved with many initiatives: he was solely responsible <strong>for</strong> budgeting,<br />

logistics and implementation <strong>of</strong> three grade‐level China Alive trips (2006‐2008), coordinated the<br />

development and implementation <strong>of</strong> the inaugural Humanities curriculum, initiated and oversaw the<br />

creation <strong>of</strong> the Student‐Led Conferences model on the Pudong Campus and was the school’s<br />

administrative liaison <strong>for</strong> the River <strong>of</strong> Hearts Charity Campaign.<br />

Jeff holds a Principal’s Qualification from Ontario Institute <strong>for</strong> Studies in Education from the<br />

University <strong>of</strong> Toronto and a Ph. in Education from The University <strong>of</strong> Western Ontario in Canada. He<br />

holds a Master <strong>of</strong> Arts in Ethnic Studies and Education Issues at the University <strong>of</strong> Toronto and a<br />

Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Education – Junior/Intermediate at the University <strong>of</strong> Toronto and Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts –<br />

Political Science from Concordia University.<br />

Jeff’s wife, Marney is teaching at SAS in Pudong as the high school English teacher and their children,<br />

Andre will be in grade 5 and Daniel will be in grade 3.<br />

HELENE REITER<br />

Helene will be joining SAS as the Human Resources Director. She has 15 years <strong>of</strong> Human<br />

Resources/Office Management experience; her most recent experience has been working as the<br />

Director <strong>for</strong> Human Resources Services at ECS Europe China Solutions GmbH in their <strong>Shanghai</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

In this role, she consulted with German companies on working in China, advised on labor law issues,<br />

managed a team <strong>of</strong> recruitment specialists, etc. Prior to this, Helene was working as a Human<br />

Resources Manager with a Design Consultancy in Austria.

Helene has been educated from the Commercial College (Handelsakademie), Kitzbuehel, Tyrol,<br />

Austria and has advanced pr<strong>of</strong>essional training in Remuneration & Labor Law, Management and<br />

Leadership and Recruitment.<br />

Helene will be a wonderful addition to the SAS community and will work closely with staff, the<br />

leadership team and the Board to move HR initiatives <strong>for</strong>ward.<br />

DOUGLAS AND LORNA PARKER<br />

PUDONG CAMPUS<br />

Douglas and Lorna is currently working at The American School in Taichung, Taichung County,<br />

Taiwan. Douglas will be teaching High School English and Lorna will be teaching Middle School<br />

Humanities at SAS. Both will work in the Pudong campus. Douglas’ previous experiences include<br />

teaching at The American School Foundation <strong>of</strong> Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and the<br />

Surabaya International School, Surabaya, Java, Indonesia. Douglas holds a Master <strong>of</strong> Education<br />

degree in International Education from Framingham State University. He also holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong><br />

Education (Hons) from the University <strong>of</strong> Toronto, Ontario, Canada and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts (Hons) from<br />

the University <strong>of</strong> Saskatchewan, Canada.<br />

Dr. Lorna Parker has a wealth <strong>of</strong> teaching experience in Humanities. Her prior experiences include<br />

teaching at The American School Foundation <strong>of</strong> Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and the<br />

Surabaya International School, Surabaya, Java, Indonesia. Lorna holds a PHD (ABT) in Curriculum<br />

from the University <strong>of</strong> Toronto, Ontario, Canada and a Master’s <strong>of</strong> Art in History from MacMaster<br />

University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She also holds two Bachelor degrees. One in Education and<br />

the other is an Honors Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts both from Mount Allison University, Sackville, Canada.<br />

ED BERGER AND SYLVIANE DE ROQUEBRUNE<br />

Ed and Sylviane were previously working at the American Community School <strong>of</strong> Abu Dhabi, United<br />

Arab Emirates. Ed will be teaching Math and Sylviane will be teaching Art at SAS. Both will work in<br />

the High School, Pudong campus. Ed’s previous experiences include teaching all upper School Math<br />

at The Community School <strong>of</strong> Naples, Florida. Ed holds a Master’s <strong>of</strong> Arts Degree in Math Education<br />

from the University <strong>of</strong> South Florida and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science from SUNY College at Buffalo.<br />

Sylviane has a wealth <strong>of</strong> teaching experience in Art. She taught Art at Fern Hill School, Oakville,<br />

Canada and also at the American Embassy School, <strong>New</strong> Delhi, India. Sylviane has a Master’s degree<br />

in Fine Arts/Art Education from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts<br />

from the Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She also holds a Nursing degree from<br />

Miami Dade College, Florida, USA.<br />

LOREN DIGGES AND SARAH ANNE CLEM‐DIGGES<br />

Loren and Sarah are currently working at the Korea International School, Korea. Loren will be<br />

teaching Humanities and Sarah will be teaching Art at the Middle School, Pudong campus.

Loren is currently a 6 th and 8 th Grade English teacher. He was also a Webmaster/Advisor <strong>for</strong> the<br />

Middle School student generated website. Loren also taught at the Global Community High School.<br />

He holds a Master’s degree in Teaching and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts from Western Washington University<br />

and a TESL Endorsement from the University <strong>of</strong> Nevada, Las Vegas.<br />

Sarah is currently a middle school Art teacher and she also taught at the Global Community High<br />

School. She holds a Master’s <strong>of</strong> Education, a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Fine Arts and in addition a TESL<br />

Endorsement from the University <strong>of</strong> Nevada, Las Vegas.<br />

RICARDO MACHADO AND STANISLAVA MIHOVA<br />

Ricardo will be teaching High School Physical Education and Stanislava will be teaching Middle<br />

School Physical Education at the Pudong campus.<br />

Ricardo is currently the Athletic Director, Head <strong>of</strong> Physical Education (elementary, middle and high<br />

school) and a PE teacher at the Al‐Bayan Bilingual/International School, Kuwait. Prior to working in<br />

Kuwait, he worked <strong>for</strong> Leysin American School, Leysin, Switzerland and <strong>for</strong> Wexham School (Sports<br />

College Specialist), Slough, England. Ricardo holds a Master’s degree in K‐12 Educational<br />

Administration from the Michigan State University, USA and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science, Licentitate<br />

Physical Education from Lus<strong>of</strong>ona de Humanidades e Technologias University.<br />

Stanislava is currently the middle school Physical Education teacher at the American School <strong>of</strong><br />

Kuwait. Prior to this, she taught at the Ox<strong>for</strong>d Academy in Kuwait. Stanislava holds a Master <strong>of</strong><br />

Economics degree from the University <strong>of</strong> National and World Economics, S<strong>of</strong>ia, Republic <strong>of</strong> Bulgaria<br />

and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science, Licentiate in Physical and Sport Education from the National Sports<br />

Academy – “Vasil Levski” – Soifa, Bulgaria. She holds teacher <strong>of</strong> Physical Education certification<br />

granted by the Bulgarian Ministry <strong>of</strong> Education and Science.<br />

PAUL HARRIS AND BETZABETH DE LA LUZ CABALLERO<br />

Paul will be teaching High School English and Betzabeth will be teaching Middle School Spanish at<br />

the Pudong campus.<br />

Paul was previously an English/Humanities teacher and Betzabeth was a Spanish teacher from ACS<br />

Egham International School, Egham, United Kingdom. Paul’s prior experiences include being the<br />

Head <strong>of</strong> Department <strong>for</strong> Tarsus American College, Tarsus, Turkey. He also taught at the American<br />

School Foundation, Mexico City, Mexico and the American School in Cartagena, Colombia. He holds a<br />

Post Graduate Certificate <strong>of</strong> Education from the University <strong>of</strong> London, Institute <strong>of</strong> Education and a<br />

Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts degree in English Literature/Sociology from the University <strong>of</strong> Cape Town, South<br />

Africa.<br />

Betzabeth’s prior experiences include teaching at Tarsus American School, Tarsus, Turkey and the<br />

Colegio Panamercano de Texcoco and Liceo Juan Ruiz de Alarcon, Texcoco, Mexico. Betzabeth holds<br />

a Certificate <strong>of</strong> Education from the Universidad Pedagogica Nacional DF, Mexico City.<br />

ROBERT GEURTEN AND TRACY MURPHY<br />

Robert will be teaching PE in Middle School and Tracy will be an Elementary School Counselor.<br />

Robert and Tracy are currently working <strong>for</strong> the Jakarta International School, Jakarta, Indonesia.<br />

Robert’s prior experiences include teaching at Emirates International School, Dubai and also at The

Community College, Bishop’s Castle, England. Robert holds a Master <strong>of</strong> Science from Shenandoah<br />

University. He also holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Education (Hons) in Physical Education from the University<br />

College Worcester.<br />

Tracy has been at the Jakarta International School, Jakarta, Indonesia <strong>for</strong> over 8 years. During that<br />

time she has assumed the roles <strong>of</strong> Elementary Counselor/Psychologist, Elementary Psychologist and<br />

School Psychologist <strong>for</strong> K‐12. Tracy previously worked at the Emirates International School, Dubai,<br />

United Arab Emirates. Tracy holds a Master’s <strong>of</strong> Arts in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark<br />

College, Portland and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Psychology from the University <strong>of</strong> Calgary, Alberta,<br />

Canada.<br />

Robert and Tracy have two daughters Shayne, 8 and Saskia, 5 who will both be attending the Pudong<br />

Campus.<br />

DAVID ARNOLD NEILL<br />

David is currently working at American International School <strong>of</strong> Kuwait City, Kuwait. He will be<br />

teaching Grade 5.<br />

David has prior working experience in Taiwan as a Supply Teacher <strong>for</strong> K‐12 from the Taipei American<br />

School. He also taught at the Columbia English Language School in Taipei and at the Sunshine<br />

American School, Hsintien, Tapei. He holds a Master’s <strong>of</strong> Arts degree from the School <strong>for</strong><br />

International Training, VT, USA. He also has a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in History from Simon Fraser<br />

University, BC, Canada. David is currently completing his Master’s degree in Education from the<br />

College <strong>of</strong> <strong>New</strong> Jersey, Ewing, NJ, USA<br />

MONA‐LISA MORRISON<br />

Mona‐Lisa is currently working at the International School, Manila, Taguig, Philippines teaching<br />

Psychology, History Theory <strong>of</strong> Knowledge, Creative Writing and is currently the Dept. Head. She will<br />

be teaching Social Studies at the High School, Pudong campus. She has worked at the Garden<br />

International School, Kuala Lumpur and the ICARDA International School <strong>of</strong> Aleppo, Aleppo, Syria.<br />

Mona‐Lisa holds a Master’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from Buffalo State, State University<br />

<strong>New</strong> York and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Education from the University <strong>of</strong> Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.<br />

JENNIFER MELTON<br />

Jennifer is currently working at the America School <strong>of</strong> Dubai, United Arab Emirates as a 9 th ‐12 th<br />

Grade School Counselor. She will be joining SAS as a High School Counselor in the Pudong campus.<br />

Jennifer has extensive experience in the field <strong>of</strong> counseling. In her current role she has actively<br />

participated and volunteered in the ASD’s Middle States Association Accreditation <strong>for</strong> Growth<br />

process. Jennifer was also the founding member <strong>of</strong> the Dubai Counselor’s Consortium. Prior to this<br />

she was the 9 th ‐12 th Grade School Counselor <strong>for</strong> J.R.Tucker High School & Henrico County ESL<br />

Welcome Center, Richmond.<br />

Jennifer holds a Master <strong>of</strong> Education in School Counseling K‐12 from Virginia Commonwealth<br />

University, Richmond, VA and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Liberal Studies, Elementary Education K‐8<br />

from Longwood College, Farmville, VA. She holds school counselor and teacher certification from<br />

Virginia Department <strong>of</strong> Education.

Heena will be teaching Social Studies in the High School, Pudong campus. She is currently at the<br />

International Christian School, Hong Kong teaching AP US History, AP World History, Asian Studies,<br />

Middle East Studies and US Foreign Policy <strong>for</strong> Grades 9‐12. Prior to this, she taught at the Seoul<br />

Foreign School, Seoul, Korea. She was also an ESL teacher at Middle School 390, <strong>New</strong> York.<br />

Heena holds a Masters degree in TESOL from <strong>New</strong> York University and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in History<br />

from Columbia University.<br />

MATTHEW LAURENCE<br />

Matthew is currently teaching Art <strong>for</strong> Grade 7‐12 at the Munich International School, Munich,<br />

Germany. He will be joining the High School, Pudong campus as an Art teacher.<br />

Matthew’s prior experiences include teaching Art from Grade 5 ‐12 in MYP, GCSE and IB Art<br />

programs from the United World College <strong>of</strong> South East Asia, Singapore and being an Art<br />

teacher/Department Head <strong>for</strong> Farragut Career Academy, Chicago with instruction in general art,<br />

studio art, sculpture, photography, painting and graphic design.<br />

Matthew holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Fine Arts and pr<strong>of</strong>essional certification in Art Education from The<br />

School <strong>of</strong> the Art Institute <strong>of</strong> Chicago. He also holds an Associate in Arts from Moraine Valley<br />

Community College, Palos Hills, Illinois.<br />

RICHARD LUNARDO<br />

Richard will be teaching PE in the Middle School, Pudong campus. Richard has over 4 years<br />

experience as a middle school Activities Director and teaching PE at the Seoul International School in<br />

Seoul, South Korea. Richard is currently at the <strong>Shanghai</strong> Singapore International School working on<br />

an English Intensive Program.<br />

Richard holds a Master’s <strong>of</strong> Education from Framingham State College, Framingham, MA, USA. He<br />

holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Education from Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, ON, Canada and also a<br />

Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts from Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada.<br />

Richard’s wife, Rain Zhou is currently working at SAS as a middle school Chinese teacher.<br />

ALEXANDER SMITH<br />

Alexander will be joining SAS as a Science teacher at the High School, Pudong campus. Alexander is<br />

currently teaching AP Biology, Integrated Science, Marine Biology, Japanese and Spanish Language<br />

from Port Angeles High School, Port Angeles, WA. Alexander previously taught at the Peninsula<br />

College, Port Angeles, WA and at Florin High School, Elk Grove Unified School District, Sacramento,<br />

CA.<br />

Alexander holds a Master’s degree in Conversation Biology from Cali<strong>for</strong>nia State University at<br />

Sacramento and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Biology from Cali<strong>for</strong>nia State University at Fresno. He also<br />

holds a teaching certificate in Japanese Language from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan.<br />

Alexander will have his 8 year old son join SAS.<br />

Alexis is currently teaching at Franklin McKinley School District at Dahl Elementary, San Jose, USA.<br />

Alexis will be joining SAS as a Grade 4 teacher at the Elementary School, Pudong campus.<br />

Alexis holds a Master’s in Education and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts from the University <strong>of</strong> Cali<strong>for</strong>nia, Santa<br />

Barbara.<br />

MICHAEL MARTIN<br />

Michael will be joining SAS as a Grade 5 teacher at the Elementary School, Pudong campus. Michael<br />

is currently working <strong>for</strong> the American International School <strong>of</strong> Johannesburg as a Grade 5 teacher. He<br />

also taught at the Anglo‐American School <strong>of</strong> Moscow, Russia and the Futures American School,<br />

Cairo, Egypt.<br />

Michael has two Master’s degrees. One is in Education from The College <strong>of</strong> <strong>New</strong> Jersey and the other<br />

in Religious Studies from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. He also holds a<br />

Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Sociology from the University <strong>of</strong> Tennessee.<br />

Michael’s partner Edward Bagares will be teaching Math in the High School, Puxi campus.<br />

TINA BUI<br />

Tina is currently a Grade 5 Gifted and Talented Classroom teacher at Public School 188 Queens,<br />

Bayside, <strong>New</strong> York. She will be joining the Elementary School, Pudong campus as a Grade 5 teacher.<br />

Tina established challenging and enriching fifth grade magnet programs with emphasis on social<br />

studies, world governments and international affairs. Prior to that, Tina was teaching at the Public<br />

Schools 20 Flushing, <strong>New</strong> York.<br />

Tina holds a Master’s degree in Education from H<strong>of</strong>stra University, School <strong>of</strong> Education & Allied<br />

Human Services, Hempstead, NY and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Journalism from Rutgers The State<br />

University <strong>of</strong> <strong>New</strong> Jersey, <strong>New</strong>ark, NJ. She holds a Gifted and Talented Education Certification from<br />

Touro College, Queens, <strong>New</strong> York.<br />

SANDRA ELDER<br />

Sandra will be joining SAS as a Swim teacher at the High School, Pudong campus. Sandra is currently<br />

working <strong>for</strong> the American Cooperative School <strong>of</strong> Tunis, Tunis, Tunisia as an Aquatics Director,<br />

Physical Education teacher 6‐10 and Health 9‐10. Sandra brings to SAS extensive athletic/aquatics<br />

teaching experiences. She taught at the InterAmerican Academy, Guayaquil, Ecuador and <strong>for</strong> John F.<br />

Kennedy Schule, Berlin, Germany.<br />

Sandra holds a Master’s <strong>of</strong> Science in Athletic Administration from Idaho State University, Pocatello,<br />

Idaho and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Physical Education from Boise State University, Boise, Idaho. She<br />

holds Physical Education (K‐12), Health (6‐12), Spanish (6‐12) teaching certifications from State <strong>of</strong><br />

Idaho.

Dr. Sharon Voss is currently an ELL Coordinator and Learning Specialist <strong>for</strong> Dubai American Academy,<br />

Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She will be joining SAS as an ESOL teacher at the High School, Pudong<br />

campus. Sharon brings a wealth <strong>of</strong> ESOL experience to SAS. She taught at the Lutheran Church‐<br />

Missouri‐Synod’s Volunteer Mission Service and Volunteer Youth Ministry; the Hong Kong<br />

International School, Repulse Bay, Hong Kong and <strong>for</strong> the Education & Manpower Bureau at<br />

Concordia Lutheran School, Kowloon, Hong Kong. She was also an adjunct pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> English as a<br />

Second/Foreign Language, Intercultural Communication, Linguistics & Teacher‐training <strong>for</strong> the<br />

Concordia University, Irvine, CA and an adjunct pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> English as a Second/Foreign Language,<br />

Intercultural Communication, Linguistics & Teacher‐Training <strong>for</strong> the Hong Kong University, Hong<br />

Kong, SAR.<br />

Sharon holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership in Postsecondary, Adult and Continuing<br />

Education from Portland State University, Portland, Oregon and a Master’s <strong>of</strong> Arts in Teaching<br />

English as a Second/Foreign Language <strong>for</strong> the School <strong>for</strong> International Training, Brattleboro, VT. She<br />

also holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Art and Elementary Education from Concordia Teachers College,<br />

River Forest, Illinois.<br />

NOEDMARIE SANTANA<br />

Noedmarie is a native Spanish and English Instruction teacher at Berlitz International Inc. in<br />

<strong>Shanghai</strong>, China. She will be joining SAS as a Part‐time Spanish teacher at the High School, Pudong<br />

campus. Noedmarie is currently completing her Master <strong>of</strong> Arts in Educational Leadership and<br />

Administration from The George Washington University, Washington DC, USA. She holds a Master’s<br />

<strong>of</strong> Business Administration in International Business from Almeda University, Boise, Idaho, USA and a<br />

Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University, Pennsylvania,<br />

USA.<br />

SHANNETH ELLIOTT<br />

Shanneth is currently teaching IB Physics, IB Chemistry and IB Theory <strong>of</strong> Knowledge at the EF<br />

International Academy in <strong>New</strong> York which is a boarding school <strong>for</strong> international students. She will be<br />

joining the Pudong High School campus as a Science teacher.<br />

Shanneth’s prior experiences include teaching at Pine View School <strong>for</strong> the Gifted, Osprey, Florida and<br />

Eric and Christal are currently working at the International School <strong>of</strong> Prague, Czech Republic. Eric will<br />

be teaching Elementary Physical Education and Christal will be teaching Grade 1 at the Puxi Campus.<br />

Prior to working in Czech Republic, Eric worked as an Elementary Physical Education teacher at<br />

Bordeaux Elementary, in Shelton, Washington and Christal worked as a Special Education Teacher in<br />

Shelton School District, Shelton, Washington.<br />

Eric has certificates in Physical Education and Special Education. He holds a Masters <strong>of</strong> Education<br />

from City University, Tacoma, Washington and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Education from the Pacific<br />

University, Forest Grove in Oregon. Christal holds certificates in K‐8 Elementary Education, Physical<br />

Education and Special Education. She holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Education from the Pacific Lutheran<br />

University in Tacoma, Washington.<br />

Eric and Christal will be joining SAS along with their two girls, Madison (13 years) and Maya Grace<br />

(11 years).<br />

MARK AND MARTHA MOSELLE<br />

Mark and Martha are currently working at the American School <strong>of</strong> Doha, Doha, Qatar. Mark will be<br />

the High School Guidance Counselor and Martha will be teaching Elementary ESOL 4‐5 at the Puxi<br />

campus.<br />

Mark brings to SAS his strengths and knowledge <strong>of</strong> counseling. He has been responsible <strong>for</strong><br />

providing college counseling as well as general counseling services and spent considerable time<br />

working with seniors on their college and university placements. He is currently the Director <strong>of</strong><br />

College Placement and Counseling and a Guidance Counselor, Director <strong>of</strong> College, University<br />

Placement <strong>for</strong> the Jakarta International School, Jakarta, Indonesia. He holds two Master’s degrees;<br />

one in Psychology & Human Development from Harvard University, Cambridge and another in<br />

Secondary School Counseling from Mankato St. University, Mankato. He holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science<br />

Degree in Elementary Education, Development and Remedial Read from St. Cloud State University,<br />

St. Cloud and also holds certification in Secondary Guidance/Counseling and Elementary Education.<br />

Martha has a wealth <strong>of</strong> teaching experience in ESOL from the American School <strong>of</strong> Doha, Doha, Qatar<br />

and was the Grade 6 and 8 ESOL/support teacher and the MS ESOL Department Chair <strong>for</strong> the Jakarta<br />

International School, Jakarta, Indonesia. She holds a Masters in TEFL at the American University in<br />

Cairo, Egypt and holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Communications at the St. Cloud State University. In<br />

addition, Martha holds ESL K‐12 certification.<br />

BLAKE BROWN AND LORI DICKINSON<br />

Blake will join Puxi High School as a Science teacher and Lori will join Puxi Elementary School as a<br />

Kindergarten teacher. They are currently working in Peru at the Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt.<br />

Blake is currently an IB Chemistry, IB Physics, IB Theory <strong>of</strong> Knowledge teacher. Prior to this he<br />

worked at Northern Humboldt Union High School District and San Rafael City Schools in Cali<strong>for</strong>nia.<br />

Blake holds a Master’s <strong>of</strong> Science at San Francisco State University in Chemistry and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong>

Lori is currently a kindergarten teacher. She has had experience teaching at Dixie School District, San<br />

Rafael in Cali<strong>for</strong>nia; San Bruno Park School District, San Bruno and also at Poway Unified School<br />

District. Lori holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts degree in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University and a<br />

Multiple Subjects Clear Credential from San Francisco State University.<br />

Both their children, Colin who is 14 years old and Cameron who is 12 years old will be joining them<br />

at SAS.<br />

GREGORY ISRAEL AND CATHERINE WENTWORTH<br />

Gregory and Catherine are currently working at the Korea International School, Korea. Gregory will<br />

be teaching Social Studies and Catherine will be teaching IB Art at the High School. Gregory is<br />

currently the Technology Integration Specialist and an Apple Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Development Consultant.<br />

Gregory holds a Master’s <strong>of</strong> Arts in Education and a Cali<strong>for</strong>nia Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Clear Credential in Social<br />

Studies with CLAD Certificate from Stan<strong>for</strong>d University. He also holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Economics<br />

at the University <strong>of</strong> Oregon.<br />

Catherine is currently a high school Art teacher with instruction in AP Studio Art, Digital<br />

Photography, Art II, Independent Study and Advisory. She also taught middle and high school Art at<br />

the American School <strong>of</strong> Bangkok and high school Art at Sierra High School Manteca, Cali<strong>for</strong>nia. She<br />

holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Fine Arts degree in Art Education and Photography, with Honors and a<br />

Massachusetts Teacher Provisional Certification.<br />

PETER AND TESSA ALDEN<br />

Peter and Tessa are currently working at the International Bilingual School in Hsinchu Science Park,<br />

Taiwan. Peter will be teaching Science and Tessa will be teaching English at the High School. Peter is<br />

currently teaching Chemistry. Prior to this, he taught at Wilson High School in Phoenix, Arizona and<br />

Shaktoolik School in Alaska. Peter holds two Bachelor degrees. One is in S<strong>of</strong>tware Design from the<br />

University <strong>of</strong> Advancing Technology and the other in Biological Sciences from the University <strong>of</strong><br />

Alaska Fairbanks. He also holds teaching certification from the University <strong>of</strong> Alaska Fairbanks.<br />

Tessa is currently a teacher <strong>of</strong> high school English Literature, middle school creative writing, middle<br />

and high school ESOL. She also taught at Drumheller Composite High School, Alberta, Canada. She<br />

has a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from the University <strong>of</strong> British Columbia and two<br />

Bachelor degrees. One is in Education and the other in English Literature from the University <strong>of</strong><br />

Calgary.<br />

CHRISTOPHER SCHUSTER AND CARLA MOLLOY<br />

Christopher will be teaching English at the High School and Carla will be teaching Science in Middle<br />

School. Christopher was an English teacher from Shore Regional High School, West Long Branch,<br />

<strong>New</strong> Jersey. Christopher’s prior experiences include teaching at the Kwangju Foreign School,<br />

Gwangju, South Korea and also at Manalapan High School, Manalapan, <strong>New</strong> Jersey. Christopher<br />

holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA and<br />

currently pursuing his Ed. D from the same university. He also holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in English<br />

from the University <strong>of</strong> Montana, Missoula, MT.

Carla is currently teaching Grade 7 Science at the Clinton Township Middle School, Clinton, <strong>New</strong><br />

Jersey. Carla previously worked at the Kwangju Foreign School, Gwangju South Korea. Carla is<br />

completing her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA.<br />

She holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Teacher Education from The Richard Stockton College <strong>of</strong> <strong>New</strong> Jersey,<br />

Pomona and an Honors Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science (Biological Sciences) from the University <strong>of</strong> Guelph,<br />

Ontario, Canada.<br />

LUKE MACBRIDE AND ALYSON SAYER<br />

Luke and Alyson are currently working at the American School <strong>of</strong> Valencia, Valencia, Spain. Luke will<br />

be teaching English and Alyson will be teaching Math at the High School. Luke is currently teaching<br />

English and Theory <strong>of</strong> Knowledge. Luke’s prior experiences include teaching at Bayview Glen<br />

Independent School, Toronto, Canada and Mickey Mantle School, <strong>New</strong> York City, USA. Luke holds an<br />

Honors Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts from the University <strong>of</strong> Toronto and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Education from Wildfrid<br />

Laurier University.<br />

Alyson is currently teaching Mathematics at the American School <strong>of</strong> Valencia. She is also the Dept.<br />

Coordinator. Prior to this, she taught at Bowmore Public School, Toronto, Canada; Mickey Mantle<br />

School, <strong>New</strong> York City, USA and the Western Technical – Commercial School, Toronto, Canada.<br />

Alyson holds an Honors Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts degree from York University and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Education<br />

from the University <strong>of</strong> Toronto.<br />

ELIZABETH LANFAIR<br />

Elizabeth is currently working at the Concordian International School, Bangkok as the Thailand<br />

EYP/PYP Music and Elementary Choir Director. She will be teaching Music at the Middle School, Puxi<br />

campus.<br />

Elizabeth’s prior experiences include initiating the elementary orchestra program, a title one district<br />

at Pleasant Run and Rolling Hills Elementary Lancaster I.S.D. She was an Orchestra Director <strong>for</strong><br />

Thornton Middle School Cypress‐Fairbanks I.S.D. Elizabeth holds a Master <strong>of</strong> Science in Theology<br />

from the Southwestern Assemblies <strong>of</strong> God University and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Music in Instrumental<br />

Education from the Oklahoma City University. She has pr<strong>of</strong>essional affiliations with American String<br />

Teachers Association, Sigma Alpha Iota and Texas Orchestra Directors Association.<br />

THANH PHAM<br />

Thanh is coming to SAS from Garland ISD in Texas. He will be teaching Math in the High School, Puxi<br />

campus.<br />

Thanh has extensive teaching experience, currently teaching IB Math HL/AP Calculus and he was also<br />

an AP Calculus teacher at Dallas ISD, Texas. Thanh holds a Master <strong>of</strong> Science in Electrical Engineering<br />

at Tufts University and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Electrical Engineering at the same university. He also<br />

holds teaching certification in Math and Computer Science at the University <strong>of</strong> Texas, Dallas.<br />

DENA ZINGALES<br />

Dena is currently an Elementary teacher from the Rainbow Bridge International School, <strong>Shanghai</strong>,<br />

China. She will be teaching Academic Support 4‐5 at the Elementary School, Puxi campus.<br />

Dena’s prior experiences include teaching Grades 3 and 4 at the Arizona Academy <strong>of</strong> Science,<br />

Arizona, United States; Phoenix Elementary School District, Arizona, United States and Cartwright<br />

School District, Arizona, United States Elementary.

Dena holds two Master’s degrees. A Master’s in In<strong>for</strong>mation and Library Studies from Robert Gordon<br />

University and a Master’s in Education (Special Education) from Arizona State University. She holds a<br />

Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts from Arizona State University.<br />

LEE HODIN<br />

Lee will be joining SAS as the Middle School Science teacher in the Puxi campus. Lee is currently a<br />

Science teacher working at the Sotogrande International School in Spain.<br />

Prior to this, Lee taught science <strong>for</strong> seven years at Poulsbo Junior High School, Poulsbo, WA, USA. He<br />

has taught and been trained in the Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP) and<br />

Foundational Approaches in the Science Teaching (FAST) curriculum.<br />

Lee holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts in Natural Science from Saint John’s University, Collegeville, MN. He<br />

holds pr<strong>of</strong>essional certification in education from Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA.<br />

KARA AFSHAR<br />

Kara will be joining SAS as a Grade 5 teacher in the Elementary School, Puxi campus. Kara is currently<br />

teaching at the George F. Kelly Elementary School, Chelsea, MA.<br />

Kara is currently completing her Master <strong>of</strong> Education from Boston University, School <strong>of</strong> Education,<br />

Boston. Kara holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts from Wake Forest University, Winston‐Salem, NC. She holds<br />

teaching certification from the Columbia University, Teachers College, <strong>New</strong> York.<br />

CHRISTINE ROULES<br />

Christine is currently teaching Grade 8‐12 Science at Winfield Mt. Union Community School District,<br />

Winfield, IA. She will be joining SAS as a Science teacher at the High School.<br />

Christine brings to SAS a wealth <strong>of</strong> experience in teaching science. For 16 years, Christine worked as<br />

a Science teacher at the American School <strong>of</strong> Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Christine also taught at<br />

the American School <strong>of</strong> Kinshasa, Zaire; Downers Grove South High School, District 99, Downers<br />

Grove, IL and at the Atlantic Community High School, Atlantic, IA.<br />

Christine holds a Master’s degree in Theology from Wheaton Graduate School, Wheaton, IL and a<br />

Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science, Earth Science from Iowa State University, Ames, IA. She has been awarded an<br />

“Outstanding Teacher Award” from the University <strong>of</strong> Chicago in 1988 and 1991 respectively.<br />

Christine’s daughter, Grace Anne (11 years old) will also be joining SAS.<br />

SHAUNA COVELL<br />

Shauna worked at the Beaverdam Elementary School, Beaverdam, Virginia as an Elementary teacher.<br />

She will be joining SAS as a Pre‐Kindergarten teacher in the Elementary School, Puxi campus.<br />

Shauna has prior working experience as a Substitute teacher <strong>for</strong> Skaneateles Public Schools,<br />

Skaneateles, <strong>New</strong> York. Shauna holds a Master’s degree in Literacy Education from Syracuse<br />

University, Syracuse, <strong>New</strong> York and a Bachelor’s degree in Education Studies and American Studies<br />

from Skidmore College, Saratoga Spring, <strong>New</strong> York.

Edward is currently a High School Math teacher at the American International School <strong>of</strong><br />

Johannesburg, South Africa. He will be joining SAS as a Math teacher in the High School, Puxi<br />

campus.<br />

Edward’s wealth <strong>of</strong> math experience comes from his diverse teaching background. He taught at<br />

Johns Hopkins University – Center <strong>for</strong> Talented Youth, Santa Cruz, USA; the Anglo‐American School<br />

<strong>of</strong> Moscow, Russia and at the Futures American School, Cairo, Egypt. Edward holds a Master <strong>of</strong><br />

Education from The College <strong>of</strong> <strong>New</strong> Jersey. He also holds two Bachelor degrees. One in Education<br />

from Brock University, St. Catharines, Canada and the other in Arts from the University <strong>of</strong> Waterloo.<br />

Edward’s partner Michael Martin will be teaching Grade 5 in the Elementary School, Pudong<br />

campus.<br />

ERIN McCALL<br />

Erin is currently working at the International School <strong>of</strong> Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam as a Classroom<br />

teacher in Kindergarten. She will be joining SAS as a Pre‐Kindergarten teacher in the Puxi campus.<br />

Erin’s prior experiences include teaching kindergarten at the International School <strong>of</strong> Trieste, Trieste,<br />

Italy and also at Horace Mann School in <strong>New</strong> York.<br />

Erin holds a Master’s in Education from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX and a Bachelor <strong>of</strong><br />

Science from the University <strong>of</strong> North Texas, Denton, TX. She has a two year Music Major in Baylor<br />

University, Waco, TX.<br />

KIMBERLEE LEAR<br />

Kimberlee will be teaching Grade 5 in the Elementary School, Puxi Campus. She is currently at<br />

Colegio Maya, The American International School <strong>of</strong> Guatemala, Guatemala City teaching Grade 3.<br />

Kimberlee’s prior experiences include teaching at Pine Ridge Elementary, Bend, Oregon; Skyline<br />

Elementary, Portland, Oregon and Juniper Elementary, Bend, Oregon.<br />

Kimberlee holds a Masters <strong>of</strong> Arts in Teaching and a Master’s Thesis on the Multiple Intelligence<br />

Theory from Willamette University, Oregon. She also holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Psychology from<br />

Oregon State University.<br />

NIALL GIBSON<br />

Niall is currently working at The Egyptian British International School, Cairo, Egypt as the Head <strong>of</strong><br />

Physical Education and Housemaster <strong>of</strong> Scotland House. He will be joining SAS as a PE teacher in the<br />

High School, Puxi campus.<br />

Niall also taught physical education at The Nicolson Institute, Stornoway, Scotland and he was a<br />

Camp Director <strong>for</strong> the UK International Soccer Camps.<br />

Niall holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Physical Education (Hons) from The University <strong>of</strong> Edinburgh.
