<strong>The</strong> Committee on Accountancy, pursuant to Rule 16(d) <strong>of</strong> the regulations,<br />

also recommends that the certificate <strong>of</strong> certified public accountant be awarded to<br />

twenty-three candidates who wish to transfer the examination credit earned by<br />

passing the standard written examination in another state and who have fulfilled<br />

all other legal requirements under Sections 1, 2, and 3 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Illinois</strong> Accountancy<br />

Act <strong>of</strong> 1943, as amended. <strong>The</strong> names <strong>of</strong> the candidates are filed with the secretary.<br />

I concur in these recommendations.<br />

Reappointments to the <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Directors <strong>of</strong> the Athletic Association<br />

<strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong> at Urbana-Champaign<br />

(6) On recommendation <strong>of</strong> the chancellor at the Urbana-Champaign campus, I<br />

submit herewith nominations for reappointment to the board <strong>of</strong> directors <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Athletic Association <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong> at Urbana-Champaign,’ to be-<br />

come effective at the 1980 annual meeting <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> directors and to con-<br />

tinue until its 1981 annual meeting or until the successors <strong>of</strong> these directors have<br />

been appointed.<br />

This year, all <strong>of</strong> the current board members are recommended for reappoint-<br />

ment.<br />

RICHARD K. BARKSDALE, pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> English and associate dean <strong>of</strong> the Graduate<br />

College. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Barksdale has been a member <strong>of</strong> the faculty for eight years.<br />

(He has served on the board since 1979).<br />

JAMES W. BAYNE, pr<strong>of</strong>essor and associate head <strong>of</strong> the Department <strong>of</strong> Mechanical<br />

and Industrial Engineering. (He has served on the board since 1977.)<br />

WILLIAM A. FERGUSON, associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> mathematics, executive secretary <strong>of</strong><br />

the department and faculty representative to the Big Ten. (He has served on<br />

the board since 1976.)<br />

CHARLES H. HENDERSON, associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> social work. (He has served on the<br />

board since 1978.)<br />

JOHN P. HUMMEL, pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> physics and <strong>of</strong> chemistry and associate head <strong>of</strong><br />

the Department <strong>of</strong> Chemistry. (He has served on the board since 1976.)<br />

MARIA KEEN, assistant pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> English as a Second Language. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Keen<br />

has been a member <strong>of</strong> the faculty for thirty-two years. (She has served on the<br />

board since 1979.)<br />

EMILY S. WAITS, pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> English. (She has served on the board since 1977.)<br />

WILLIAM T. CAMERON, class <strong>of</strong> 1929, former vice president <strong>of</strong> Northern Trust Company,<br />

Chicago, <strong>Illinois</strong>. (He has served on the board since 1978.)<br />

ROBERT D. HEATH, class <strong>of</strong> 1950, is associated with Asset Management <strong>of</strong> Robinson,<br />

<strong>Illinois</strong>, which is engaged in apartment and housing construction and<br />

natural resource exploration. He has served on the Alumni Association’s<br />

board <strong>of</strong> directors and is a former president <strong>of</strong> the Crawford County Alumni<br />

Club. He is a past member <strong>of</strong> the advisory council <strong>of</strong> the College <strong>of</strong> Commerce<br />

and Business Administration. He is president <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong><br />

Alumni Association. (He has served on the board since 1979.)<br />

JOSEPHINE T. Mmcuso, Ph.D., 1972, chairman <strong>of</strong> the Department <strong>of</strong> Health and<br />

Physical Education at Lyons Township High School. (She has served on the<br />

board since 1978.)<br />

ROGER POOUE, class <strong>of</strong> 1941, owner <strong>of</strong> Mavis-Pogue Lumber Company, Decatur,<br />

‘<strong>The</strong> government <strong>of</strong> the Athletic Association. as established in its artides <strong>of</strong> incorporation<br />

is vested in a board <strong>of</strong> thirteen directors seven <strong>of</strong> whom must be from the faculty and six fr&<br />

the membership <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Illiiois Alumni Association, elected by the <strong>University</strong> <strong>Board</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Trustees</strong> upon recornmendation <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> president. Appointments arc for one year.
