On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Lenz, authority was given as requested by the fol-<br />

lowing vote: Aye, Dr. Donoghue, Mr. Forsyth, Mr. Hahn, Mr. Howard,<br />

Mr. Lenz, Mrs. Shepherd, Mr. Stone, Mr. Velasquez; no, none; absent,<br />

Mr. Neal, Governor Thompson.<br />

Award <strong>of</strong> Certified Public Accountant Certificates<br />

(2) <strong>The</strong> Committee on Accountancy recommends that the certificate <strong>of</strong> certified<br />

public accountant be awarded, under Section 5 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Illinois</strong> Accountancy Act <strong>of</strong><br />

1943, as amended, to eleven candidates who have presented evidence that they are<br />

holders <strong>of</strong> valid and unrevoked certified public accountant certificates obtained<br />

by passing a standard written examination in another state or territory <strong>of</strong> the<br />

United States and who qualify in all other respects under this provision <strong>of</strong> the law.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Committee on Accountancy, pursuant to Rule 16(d) <strong>of</strong> the Regulations,<br />

also recommends that the certificate <strong>of</strong> certified public accountant be awarded to<br />

thirty-four candidates who wish to transfer the examination credit earned by<br />

passing the standard written examination in another state and who have fulfilled<br />

all other legal requirements under Sections 1, 2, and 3 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Illinois</strong> Accountancy<br />

Act <strong>of</strong> 1943, as amended. <strong>The</strong> names <strong>of</strong> the candidates are filed with the secretary.<br />

I concur.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Hahn, these certificates were awarded.<br />

Appointment to <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Examiners in Accountancy<br />

(3) <strong>The</strong> Committee on Accountancy recommends the appointment <strong>of</strong> A. Clayton<br />

Ostlund, a partner in the public accounting firm <strong>of</strong> Touche Ross & Co., Chicago,<br />

and Warren D. Summers, managing partner <strong>of</strong> the public accounting firm <strong>of</strong><br />

Filbey, Summers, Abolt, Good & Kidoo, Champaign, as members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

Examiners in Accountancy for three-year terms beginning with the November I979<br />

certified public accountant examination and continuing through the May 1982<br />

examination. <strong>The</strong>y will succeed Ronald H. Bates and R. Neal Fulk whose terms<br />

will expire with the completion <strong>of</strong> the grading <strong>of</strong> the May 1979 examination.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Hahn, these appointments were approved.<br />

Appointment to the <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Directors <strong>of</strong> the Athletic Association<br />

<strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong> at Urbana-Champaign<br />

(4) On recommendation <strong>of</strong> the chancellor at the Urbana-Champaign campus, I<br />

submit herewith a nomination for appointment to the <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Directors <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Athletic Association <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong> at Urbana-Champaign, effective<br />

May 19, 1979, and to continue until a successor has been appointed.'<br />

New Appointment<br />

ROBERT D. HEATH, Class <strong>of</strong> 1950, is associated with Asset Management <strong>of</strong> Robinson,<br />

<strong>Illinois</strong>, which is engaged in apartment and housing construction and<br />

natural resource exploration. He has served on the Alumni Association's<br />

<strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Directors and is a former president <strong>of</strong> the Crawford County Alumni<br />

'<strong>The</strong> 8 pointee became the praident <strong>of</strong> the Alumni Auociation on May 19 and therefom<br />

will succeed predecessor on the Athletic Association <strong>Board</strong>.
