19781 UNIVERSITY OF <strong>ILLINOIS</strong> 1 05<br />

Administrative <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> and <strong>of</strong> CDC have recommended-that<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor McKeown’s <strong>University</strong>-developed accountancy lessonware be handled<br />

as follows:<br />

1. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor McKeown will release his lessonware to the <strong>University</strong> through the<br />

standard procedure.<br />

2. <strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> and CDC agree that Pr<strong>of</strong>essor McKeown will continue to have<br />

author mode access to his lessonware when it has been installed on the CDC<br />

PLATO system.<br />

3. <strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> will waive all rights and interests in future lessonware developed<br />

on the CDC PLATO system by Pr<strong>of</strong>essor McKeown by virtue <strong>of</strong> the special<br />

author access granted as item (2).<br />

4. As a consideration for the waiver <strong>of</strong> item (3), the <strong>University</strong> will receive a<br />

permanent, royalty-free license to such completed lessonware as may be derived<br />

in the future by virtue <strong>of</strong> the special author access granted to Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Mc-<br />

Keown. Usage occurring under this license will be without restriction to appli-<br />

cations which are directly related to programs <strong>of</strong> instruction and research <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong>.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> Committee on Copyrightable Works has reviewed this proposed<br />

arrangement and has recommended approval. <strong>The</strong> vice president for administration<br />

concurs.<br />

I recommend approval.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Livingston, these recommendations were approved.<br />

Noninstructional Capital Improvements, 1978-79, Urbana<br />

(19) <strong>The</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong> <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Higher Education has requested that all non-instruc-<br />

tional capital improvements presently planned for the period November 1978-<br />

November 1979 be submitted with the FY 1980 RAMP document. Projects for<br />

the Urbana-Champaign campus are listed below.<br />

<strong>The</strong> president <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>, with the concurrence <strong>of</strong> the appropriate<br />

administrative <strong>of</strong>ficers, recommends approval <strong>of</strong> these projects as noninstructional<br />

capital improvement projects subject to further action by the <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Higher<br />

Education.<br />

<strong>The</strong> student advisory vote was: Aye, Miss Kooper, Mr. Sobotka, Mr.<br />

Watson ; no, none.<br />

On motion <strong>of</strong> Mr. Neal, this recommendation was approved by the<br />

following vote: Aye, Mr. Forsyth, Mr. Hahn, Mr. Howard, Mr. Lenz,<br />

Mr. Livingston, Mr. Neal, Mrs. Rader, Mrs. Shepherd, Mr. Velasquez;<br />

no, none; absent, Governor Thompson.<br />
