Reorganization <strong>of</strong> NBS Publications: In 1959 <strong>the</strong> journal <strong>of</strong> Research was reorganized<br />

into four separately published sections: A. Physics and Chemistry; B. Ma<strong>the</strong>matics<br />

and Ma<strong>the</strong>matical Physics; C. Engineering and Instrumentation; D. Radio Propagation.<br />

Two nonperiodicals, Monographs (papers too long <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Journal) and Technical Notes<br />

(scientific data <strong>of</strong> limited or transient interest) were established that same year.<br />

Continuing nonperiodicals included <strong>the</strong> Applied Ma<strong>the</strong>matics Series, Handbooks, and<br />

Miscellaneous Publications. Commercial <strong>Standards</strong> and Simplified Practice Recom-<br />

niendations, discontinued as NBS publications from 1951 to 1963, were resumed as<br />

<strong>Bureau</strong> publications.<br />

Continuing monthly periodicals included <strong>the</strong> Technical News Bulletin and CRPL<br />

Ionospheric Predictions (<strong>for</strong>mer Basic Radio Propagation Predictions).
