DAVID PHILLIPSON <strong>2013</strong><br />

CAREER:<br />

Born with Brittle Bone Disease, David is a former world No.2 junior player. In 2007 he was a<br />

member of the GB team that won junior World Team Cup. He won his first international singles<br />

title in 2006 and reached the second round of the Beijing 2008 Paralympics. In 2008 he played<br />

in the men’s wheelchair doubles at Wimbledon as he made his Grand Slam debut.<br />

David enjoyed a landmark season on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour in 2010, reaching the<br />

quarter-finals of three of the four Super Series tournaments. In 2011 he went on to reach his first<br />

ITF 1 Series final at the Korea Open.<br />

In 2012 David beat world top 10 ranked players in the lead up to London 2012 where he reached<br />

the last 16 in the singles and doubles.<br />

After surgery in November 2012 to replace rods in his left leg, David recently made a successful<br />

return to action in Sheffield, where he was runner-up in the men’s singles to consolidate his current<br />

British No. 3 ranking and won the men’s doubles.<br />
