ED HOLT 2013 CAREER: An enthusiastic club player in Lincolnshire and a county stand football player, Ed was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in September 2009 and subsequently had to have part of his right leg amputated. Ed heard about wheelchair tennis after visiting the Nottingham Indoor in October 2010. His first competitive tournament was the North West Challenge in Preston, and during 2011 he played all five NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour events in Britain that he was eligible for. Currently studying Sports Performance and training at Leeds Metropolitan University, Ed’s highlights of 2012 included reaching the men’s singles semi-finals at June’s International Open Villa de Pinto, where he also won the men’s doubles title, having claimed the first main draw doubles title of his career at the Antalya Open in Turkey in May. He has started 2013 by reaching the men’s consolation singles finals at Britain’s first two world ranking tournaments of the year in Preston and Sunderland. LOUISE HUNT 2013 CAREER: Louise started playing wheelchair tennis aged eight and became a very successful junior player, winning the girls’ doubles title on three occasions at the Junior Masters in Tarbes, France. She reached a career best junior ranking of No. 2 in January 2009. A two-time women’s doubles National Champion, Louise won her first senior women’s singles title in Turkey in 2009. Louise has helped GB’s women’s team to the latter stages of the World Team Cup in each of the last four seasons winning bronze medals in 2011 and 2012. She ended the 2012 season having won seven doubles titles and two singles titles, including her first ITF 2 Series women’s singles title at the Israel Open in May to ensure her qualification for London 2012, where she made her Paralympic Games debut. Louise also qualified to make her Doubles Masters debut in November 2012 and has started 2013 by winning two doubles titles at back-to-back tournaments in Switzerland and Great Britain and claimed the women’s singles in Sheffield and Madrid.
