The 2012 Aegon British Junior National<br />

Championships took place at Nottingham<br />

Tennis Centre and West Hants club in<br />

Bournemouth. The 18&U titles went to Scott<br />

Clayton and Beth Askew while Julian Cash<br />

and Lana Rush were victorious in the 16&U<br />

age group.<br />

The 14&U titles were won by Marcus Walters<br />

and Gabriella Taylor while Finn Bass and<br />

Emily Appleton were crowned 12&U winners.<br />

The winners of the 2012 HSBC Road to<br />

Wimbledon were decided at the Bank of<br />

England Sports Ground in Roehampton with<br />

Luke Hammond and Emily Arbuthnott taking<br />

the singles titles.<br />

SEPTEMBER 2012<br />

Andy Murray won his first Grand Slam singles<br />

title at the US Open with a thrilling 7-6(10),<br />

7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 win over Novak Djokovic to<br />

become the first British man since Fred Perry<br />

in 1936 to win one of the four major titles.<br />

Laura Robson made an impressive run to the<br />

fourth round of the US Open with victories<br />

over Kim Clijsters and Li Na while Johanna<br />

Konta won her first Grand Slam main draw<br />

match against Timea Babos before narrowly<br />

going down in the second round to Olga<br />

Govortsova.<br />

In the junior event Kyle Edmund won his<br />

first junior Grand Slam title with Portuguese<br />

partner Frederico Ferreira Silva while Liam<br />

Broady was runner-up in the Boy’s singles.<br />

Great Britain won two medals at the<br />

Paralympic wheelchair tennis event with<br />

Peter Norfolk and Andrew Lapthorne taking<br />

silver in the quad doubles and Lucy Shuker<br />

and Jordanne Whiley becoming the first<br />

British females to win a medal in wheelchair<br />

tennis when they came back from match<br />

point down to win bronze in the women’s<br />

doubles.<br />

Gordon Reid reached the quarter finals of the<br />

men’s singles and the quarter finals of the<br />

Men’s doubles with Marc McCarroll.<br />

Ross Hutchins and Colin Fleming reached<br />

their fourth ATP World Tour Final of the year<br />

at Kuala Lumpar narrowly falling to Bruno<br />

Soares and Alexander Peya.<br />

Jamie Murray and partner Andre Sa were<br />

runners up at the ATP Roller Open Challenger<br />

event in Luxembourg while David Rice and<br />

Sean Thornley won their first ATP Challenger<br />

title at the Izmir Cup in Turkey.<br />

Laura Robson became the first British woman<br />

to reach a WTA singles final for 22 years when<br />

she finished as runner-up at the GRC Bank<br />

Guangzhou International Women’s Open<br />

Dan Evans was in great form to win<br />

consecutive Aegon GB Pro-Series events in<br />

Roehampton and Nottingham.<br />

Liam Broady was a finalist at the ITF Grade<br />

1 Canadian Open Junior Championships<br />
