CAREER:<br />
• After playing a year in futures in 2006, Ed decided he wasn’t ready for the demands of the<br />
Tour and enrolled in University of Texas in Austin (graduating in 2011 with a degree in Corporate<br />
Communication and minor in business). After graduating, cracked Top 1000 for the<br />
first time.<br />
2012-13<br />
• In 2012, scored his career best win over No. 176 Jan Mertl (CZE) in a 2:54 all-tiebreak three<br />
setter at the Aegon Nottingham Challenge; played qualifying of first tour events at Eastbourne<br />
and Wimbledon as WC, falling first round of both.<br />
• In <strong>2013</strong>, second only to Andy Murray in singles matches won amongst British men (35 as of<br />
May 5), including winning his first ITF Pro Circuit singles titles; during a 6-tournament span<br />
from Jan. through Mar., won 27 of 30 matches, highlighted by titles in Preston, Wirral and<br />
Bath, finalist in Cardiff and Sheffield and SF at Shrewsbury.<br />
PERSONAL:<br />
Mother Janet is involved with Herts and Gosling junior tennis, father Martin is a financial advisor<br />
and accountant at own firm in Harpenden (also <strong>LTA</strong> Board member) both former county<br />
level players; brother David (six years older) Financial Advisor for UBS in Texas and US college<br />
tennis player; Brother Tom (three years older) played college tennis at Monmouth, NJ and went<br />
into coaching after graduating in 2008; Ed has been playing tennis since he could walk, doesn’t<br />

remember life without a racket; first coaches were his mum and John Banham. During Ed’s collegiate<br />
career, reached No. 4 in singles and 2 in doubles as was two-time All-American. In his<br />
spare time, likes reading, watching sport, TV series (Suits), films (Shawshank Redemption), music<br />
(Coldplay & Kings of Leon) and playing golf. Favourite tennis player growing up was Sebastien<br />
Grosjean.<br />
