2002 (Fr.)—Redshirted; did not see any game action but practiced<br />

all fall in the secondary. He was the Scout Team Defense Award<br />

winner for the Texas Tech game.<br />

HIGH SCHOOL—As a senior, he earned PrepStar All-America<br />

honors, as the magazine ranked him as the No. 8 “athlete” in its West<br />

region. Prep Football Report and SuperPrep both named him to their<br />

All-Far West teams, while Rivals.<strong>com</strong> ranked him as the No. 54 cornerback<br />

in the nation. He earned first-team all-state, all-metro,<br />

all-city and all-Oakland Athletic League honors, and was named an<br />

A&G All-Star, listed as one of the Bay Area’s Top 15 recruits and made<br />

the East Bay’s “Cream of the Crop” Top 20. He earned second-team<br />

all-city and all-league honors and was honorable mention all-A&G as<br />

a junior. As a senior, he made 138 tackles (97 solo), with 31 for losses<br />

including five quarterback sacks. He added a whopping 49 passes<br />

broken up to go with six interceptions, seven hurries, six forced fumbles<br />

and six recoveries. He was in on 83 tackles as a junior (20 TFL’s,<br />

two sacks), with 27 pass deflections, six hurries, two forced fumbles<br />

and a recovery. He also rushed for 500 yards and four touchdowns,<br />

while <strong>com</strong>pleting 24-of-50 passes for 400 yards and three more<br />

scores. He caught two two-point conversions both as a junior and<br />

senior, and he also punted on occasion as well. He played junior varsity<br />

as a sophomore. Top games as a senior included 13 tackles (five<br />

for losses totaling 30 yards), a forced fumble and a pass deflection in<br />

a 45-28 win over Skyline (he also caught two two-point conversion<br />

passes), and 10 tackles, three PBU’s and a fumble recovery in a 64-14<br />

win over Piedmont. McClymonds was 11-1 his senior year, winning<br />

the Oakland Athletic League title and the Silver Bowl, and was 7-4 his<br />

junior season under coach Alonzo Carter. He also lettered four times<br />

in basketball (15 points, six rebounds and five assists per game as a<br />

senior), four times in track (sprints and relays), twice in cross country<br />

and will play baseball the first time as a senior. He posted bests<br />

of 22.0 in the 200-meter run, 49.3 in the 400 and 2:03 in the 800 in<br />

track.<br />

ACADEMICS—He is majoring in <strong>com</strong>munication at Colorado. A<br />

steady 3.0-plus student in high school, he was consistently on<br />

McClymonds’ honor roll.<br />

PERSONAL—He was born May 28, 1983 in Oakland, Calif. Hobbies<br />

include reading, listening to music, watching sports and shopping;<br />

he was also active in his area’s Boys & Girls Club as well as in peer<br />

tutoring.<br />

AT COLORADO: This Season (Jr.)—Enters the fall listed second at<br />

the “mike” linebacker position. He had foot surgery the last week of<br />

spring practice and missed the spring game; he was starting to job<br />

at the end of June and was expected to be 100 percent by the start<br />

of fall camp.<br />

2003 (Soph.)—He saw action in 10 games, including two starts (to<br />

open the year against Colorado State and UCLA), missing the Baylor<br />

and Kansas games due to an ankle sprain. Toward the end of the<br />

season he also played some defensive end, as he finished up the year<br />

with 23 tackles (19 solo), with three for losses to go with two quarterback<br />

pressures in 222 snaps from scrimmage. He had a<br />

season/career-high six tackles (four solo) at Kansas State after<br />

returning from his ankle injury, along with racking up five tackles<br />

against UCLA and four against Colorado State.<br />

2002 (Fr.)—He saw action in five games over the first half of the<br />

season, getting on defense in four games (24 plays in all, no tackles).<br />

He had three special team points on the strength of two tackles and<br />

a knockdown block. He was the Scout Team Defense Award winner<br />

for the Missouri game. He was hospitalized with a life-threatening<br />

virus prior to the Buffs’ departure for the Alamo Bowl, and did not<br />

suit up for the game.<br />

HIGH SCHOOL—As a senior, he earned SuperPrep All-America<br />

honors (both pre- and postseason), as the magazine ranked him as<br />

the No. 25 linebacker in the nation. He also earned Prep Football<br />

Report and PrepStar All-Midlands accolades, with Rivals.<strong>com</strong> ranking<br />

him as the No. 16 inside linebacker in the country. Closer to home,<br />

he earned first-team All-Colorado honors (Denver Post, Rocky<br />

Mountain News), all-state (both papers) and all-Prairie League<br />

honors, with the Post naming him to its 12-player Blue Chip List. As<br />

a junior, he was first-team all-state, all-league (the defensive playerof-the-year),<br />

and also earned first-team All-Colorado honors from<br />

both newspapers. He was a first-team all-Continental League performer<br />

as a sophomore, when he also was a second-team all-state<br />

selection. As a senior, he made 179 tackles (100 solo, 79 assists), with<br />

15 for losses and five quarterback sacks; he also had 10 hurries, nine<br />

passes broken up, four fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and<br />

an interception and had five games with 20 or more tackles. On<br />

offense, he rushed for 220 yards and eight touchdowns and caught<br />

15 passes for 115 yards and another score. As a junior, he was in on<br />

184 tackles (nine TFL’s, four sacks), with 10 hurries, nine PBU’s, six<br />

interceptions, five recoveries and two forced fumbles (he rushed for<br />

120 yards and four TD’s on offense). He had 147 tackles as a junior,<br />

with four for losses including two sacks, nine hurries and an interception.<br />

Top games included a win over Lakewood as a junior, when<br />

he had a career-high 29 tackles, four for losses, with a forced fumble<br />

and a recovery. In a 50-12 win over Lakewood as a senior, he came<br />

back with 20 tackles, two for losses, with a fumble force and an interception.<br />

Hinkley was 4-6 his senior year, 9-1 his junior season (Prairie<br />

League champions) and 6-4 his sophomore year under coach John<br />

Pounder. He also lettered three times in basketball (forward) and<br />

twice in track (sprints, with bests of 11.1 in the 100 and 23.0 in the<br />

200).<br />

ACADEMICS—He is majoring in economics at Colorado. He was an<br />

honor roll student in high school.<br />

PERSONAL—He was born July 12, 1984 in Aurora, Colo. His hobbies<br />

include lifting weights and cooking, and he is very active with his<br />

church, playing the drums in an ensemble and mentoring for a<br />

youth group.<br />
