CC was 3-7 his sophomore year and 6-5 his freshman season under<br />

coach Gene Murphy.<br />

HIGH SCHOOL—He lettered three years in football, a two-way<br />

starter every season. He had 65 tackles as a senior playing as a 250pound<br />

defensive tackle, along with four sacks and an interception;<br />

he racked up 55 stops with sacks and a pick as a junior defensive<br />

end. He had roughly 40 tackles at tackles as a sophomore. On<br />

offense, he started at guard for all three seasons and did not allow a<br />

quarterback sack. El Dorado was 2-8 his senior year and 6-5 his<br />

junior and sophomore seasons under coach Rick Jones. He also lettered<br />

twice in track, throwing the shot put and discus.<br />

ACADEMICS—He is majoring in journalism (broadcast production)<br />

at Colorado. A 3.0 student in junior college, he is a finalist for a student-athlete<br />

achievement award for southern California junior<br />

colleges.<br />

PERSONAL—Born August 18, 1983 in Compton, Calif. His main<br />

hobby is <strong>com</strong>edy; he’s performed stand-up in several California<br />

<strong>com</strong>edy clubs, and cites <strong>com</strong>edian Dannon Greene as his mentor.<br />

He’s also met legendary <strong>com</strong>edians and actors Tommy Davidson and<br />

Martin Lawrence. Other hobbies include entertainment of all kinds,<br />

music, movies and live performances. He also excels at performing<br />

“Beat Box,” which he has done for a couple of major Southern<br />

California radio stations. His second cousin, Damian Anderson,<br />

played tailback at Northwestern (under current CU coach Gary<br />

Barnett) and is now with the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL. A self-proclaimed<br />

“late bloomer,” he wasn’t recruited out of high school (Last<br />

name is pronounced “guy-dunn”.)<br />

AT COLORADO: This Season (Jr.)—Enters the fall listed as a reserve<br />

wide receiver, but is also getting a look as a possible short and/or<br />

long snapper on special teams.<br />

2003 (Soph.)—He did not see any game action. He rejoined the team<br />

for spring drills, as he was a tight end as a true freshman in 2001; he<br />

moved over to receiver the second time around, as he weighed<br />

about 15 pounds less than he did as a freshman.<br />

2002 (Fr.-RS)—He decided to not play football, but remained<br />

enrolled in classes at CU.<br />

2001 (Fr.)—Redshirted; he did not see any game action. He joined<br />

the team as a recruited walk-on for August drills, and practiced all<br />

fall as a tight end.<br />

HIGH SCHOOL—As a senior, he earned honorable mention all-state<br />

and first-team all-conference honors at tight end, as he caught 15<br />

passes for 280 yards and five touchdowns, including one in the state<br />

title game. He played some spot action on the defensive line, posting<br />

22 tackles (10 solo, two quarterback sacks), with two forced fumbles<br />

and two passes broken up. Jesuit, located in the Portland suburbs,<br />

was the state champion his senior year (14-0 record) and three-time<br />

Metro League champion under coach Ken Potter. JHS was 12-1 both<br />

his junior and sophomore seasons. He also lettered three times in<br />

track (11.9 best in the 100-meter run, 150-0 in the discus), as he was<br />

a member of a three-time league champion as well his sophomore<br />

through senior years. He played the post one year in basketball.<br />

ACADEMICS—He is majoring in psychology at Colorado.<br />

PERSONAL—Born January 29, 1983 in Portland, Ore. He earned a<br />

letter in choir as a prep, as he lists singing and playing the piano<br />

among his hobbies. A grandfather helped start the Hanford project<br />

in the Tri-Cities after World War II.<br />

AT COLORADO: This Season (Fr.-RS)—Enters the fall listed third<br />

at strong safety, but with depth an issue in the entire secondary,<br />

he should work his way into the rotation is CU’s nickel and dime<br />

packages.<br />

2003 (Fr.)—Redshirted; practiced at both cornerback and safety<br />

over the course of the season.<br />

HIGH SCHOOL—As a senior, he earned first-team all-district (24-5A)<br />

honors, along with first-team all-Brazoria County mention (he was<br />

also a preseason all-Greater Houston team member). SuperPrep<br />

named him to its all-Southwest team (the No. 79 player in the region,<br />

and the 13th defensive back), while Rivals.<strong>com</strong> ranked him as the<br />

No. 60 safety in the nation. He was invited to play in the Down Under<br />

Bowl in Australia this June. He earned second-team all-district<br />

honors and first-team all-county accolades as a junior, and was<br />

second-team all-county as a sophomore. As a senior, he posted 105<br />

tackles (85 solo, two for losses) at his free safety spot, and also<br />

forced three fumbles with eight passes broken up and a blocked<br />

punt (for a safety). He averaged 16 yards on 10 punt returns and 18<br />

yards on five kickoff returns. As a junior, he had 60 tackles (47 solo),<br />

with five interceptions, five pass deflections, two forced fumbles and<br />

two recoveries, while averaging 14 yards on eight punt returns. He<br />

played corner as a sophomore, making 37 tackles (22 unassisted,<br />

three for losses), with seven PBU’s, two interceptions, two fumble<br />

recoveries and one caused fumble. His top game came against Fort<br />

Bend Elkins his senior year (14 tackles, one forced fumble, 2 PBU’s),<br />

and he three different games with 11 tackles and two pass breakups.<br />

He also had an 11-tackle game with two passes broken up and two<br />

tackles for loss as a junior against Galveston Ball. Alvin was 7-3 his<br />

junior and senior seasons and 6-4 his sophomore year under coach<br />

Mike Bass. He also lettered twice in track (sprints and relays) and<br />

once in basketball.<br />

ACADEMICS—He is undecided on his major at Colorado, but is<br />

interested in pre-law.<br />

PERSONAL—He was born January 5, 1985 in Galveston, Texas.<br />

His hobbies include shooting pool, playing video games and<br />

weightlifting. He also was an ac<strong>com</strong>plished bull rider from seventh<br />

to 10th grade, including a win and a runner-up finish in organized<br />

<strong>com</strong>petitions.
