Expert Witness Applications:<br />
Dr. Tucker introduced tabs 1-7 and asked the Committee if they had issues with any <strong>of</strong><br />
the applications. The Committee indicated they wanted to review tabs 5 & 6.<br />
Tab 5 – Rose Gavin, M.D. ( Psychiatry)<br />
Dr. Shugarman raised concerns with the applicant’s name listed as Gavin Rose on the<br />
agenda and documents referring to the applicant as Gavin E. Rose. After discussion, the<br />
Committee requested the name be changed to reflect the correct name.<br />
Tab 6 – Enrique Umpierre, M.D. (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation)<br />
Dr. Shugarman raised concerns with the applicant’s application and the chronological<br />
order <strong>of</strong> their education, training and experience. The Committee wondered whether that<br />
information could be provided in chronological order.<br />
Tab 3 – Jason Foland, M.D. (Pediatrics)<br />
Dr. Tucker noted this physician is to be used for critical care pediatrics only.<br />
A motion was made, seconded and carried unanimously to approve the following<br />
applications:<br />

Dr. Shugarman asked if there was a shortage <strong>of</strong> experts in any particular specialty area.<br />
Ms. Tootle advised she would ask the <strong>Department</strong> to provide a list <strong>of</strong> specialty areas<br />
where experts are lacking and we will provide that information at the next meeting.<br />
Action taken: obtain list <strong>of</strong> specialty areas lacking experts; schedule next meeting<br />
