Chorus<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Northview</strong> Choral Department, under the direction<br />

of Barbara Moras, had a very busy and productive<br />

spring semester.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Pre-Festival Concert, held in March<br />

featured three choirs performing two selections in<br />

preparation for the Large Group Performance<br />

Evaluation in April at Grady <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>. All three<br />

groups scored exceptionally well at this event.<br />

Chamber Choir received Excellent ratings in Performance<br />

and a Superior rating in Sight Reading.<br />

Concert Choir received Superior ratings in Performance<br />

and a Superior rating in Sight Reading. <strong>The</strong><br />

Womens Ensemble scored straight Superior ratings<br />

from all judges in Performance and Sight<br />

Reading.<br />

Also in March, the <strong>Northview</strong> Choral Department<br />

hosted the Annual Cluster Concert featuring<br />

choirs from River Trail Middle <strong>School</strong>, Autrey<br />

Mill Middle <strong>School</strong>, Findlay Oaks, Wilson Creek,<br />

Barnwell, Medlock Bridge, Dolvin and State Bridge<br />

Elementary <strong>School</strong>s. <strong>The</strong> concert was held in the<br />

main gym to a standing room only audience. <strong>The</strong><br />

concert concluded with all singers performing<br />

“Under the Sea” from the Little Mermaid.<br />

Two students participated in the All-State<br />

Chorus in Savannah in February: Eleanor Creagh<br />

& Meghan McLynn. Both girls received scores of<br />

100% at the second audition!<br />

<strong>The</strong> annual musical, “Camelot” co-directed<br />

by Ms. Moras and Paul McClain was held in March<br />

and was a huge success! Several chorus students,<br />

including Jenny Tortoriello as Guinevere, were<br />

members of the cast and crew. This was the first<br />

time since <strong>Northview</strong> opened that we had sold out<br />

audiences!<br />

Chorus and orchestra students travelled to<br />

Orlando, FL during Spring Break to perform at Universal<br />

Studios. <strong>The</strong> featured songs were “Be My<br />

Baby,” “Motown Forever” and “Jailhouse Rock” as<br />

well as other selections arranged by Tim Aucoin,<br />

who also played bass, with Ms. Moras on piano<br />

and Jeff Macko on drums.<br />

<strong>The</strong> officers for <strong>Northview</strong>’s Improv Club for the 2009<br />

Upcoming Auditions and Performances<br />

Information regarding our summer play and our 2009<br />

-2010 season will be available on the <strong>Northview</strong><br />

website after May 15.<br />

MacKenzie Perpich, Justin Stillabower and Sarah<br />

Stipe.<br />

Chamber Choir student, Alice Chen, along<br />

with Daniel Li, won First Place in the annual talent<br />

show with their piano duet, “CS <strong>The</strong>me and Variations”.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Spring Concert was a<br />

major event. <strong>The</strong> extravaganza<br />

featured all choirs as well as special<br />

guests performing a wide variety<br />

of choral music including<br />

madrigals, spirituals and medleys<br />

from “Wicked,” “Hairspray” and<br />

“Enchanted.” <strong>High</strong>lights of the<br />

concert included a duet of “May<br />

You Always Have a Song” sung<br />

by Laurel Pass and Ms. Moras.<br />

Ms. Moras also sang “For Good”<br />

with Molly Bernstein. <strong>The</strong> concert<br />

concluded with “You’ll Never<br />

Walk Alone” sung by all chorus<br />

students and conducted by Mr.<br />

Zervakos. This was a great way<br />

to end our musical year!<br />
