Possible responsibilities <strong>of</strong> head <strong>of</strong> security or nominated supervisor<br />

• Shift management duties include:<br />

– security staff administration including rosters, timesheets, adherence to dress standards and uni<strong>for</strong>m<br />

and the wearing <strong>of</strong> security identification badges<br />

– liaison with security firm or otherwise arranging <strong>for</strong> late replacements<br />

– determining each shift’s security tasks, priorities and strategies<br />

– allocating and directing duties<br />

– monitoring per<strong>for</strong>mance, ability and competence.<br />

• Training register and employment eligibility as a crowd controller involves:<br />

– completing details <strong>of</strong> the prescribed entries in the training register with a copy <strong>of</strong> current certificate<br />

– monitoring currency <strong>of</strong> training certificate (RSA) and crowd controller licences<br />

– ensuring staff induction has been undertaken<br />

– supervising during probation period.<br />

• Incident management requires:<br />

– timely completion by staff <strong>of</strong> entries into the incident register<br />

– coordinating the removal <strong>of</strong> persons with the approved manager<br />

– communicating with police and other venues during shifts.<br />

• Reporting to approved managers and licensee includes:<br />

– in<strong>for</strong>mal but immediate advice <strong>of</strong> incidents to approved manager or licensee<br />

– appraisal <strong>of</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance and recommendations on staff training needs and suitability <strong>of</strong> employment<br />

– reporting at end <strong>of</strong> probation period with recommendations as to suitability<br />

– reporting to management on security resources, practices and procedures as required.<br />
