At the high end of the Steve Goodson Line are the Steve Goodson Sopranino and the Steve Goodson Curved
ASoprano. The Steve Steve Goodson Model Sopranino Saxophone is without a doubt the fi nest sopranino ever made. Strong
words, but we’ve got the product to back them up! With a gorgeous beaded silver fi nish on the body tube and
gold-plated keywork, this unique instrument is keyed to E natural.
Many make curved sopranos, but only Steve Goodson has brought it to this new level of playing
ease and beauty. The ergonomics of this silver-plated instrument astound. Consider only that the
right hand thumb hook is rotated away from the center, toward the saxophonist’s body. You’ll be
pleasantly surprised how very comfortable it is to play!
Easy blowing with precise intonation, the Steve Goodson Model Curved Soprano has a warmth
lacking in all other sopranos, regardless of their prices.
Steve Goodson Model Alto and Tenor Saxophones are the most innovative, modern designs
available today. In addition to their superior acoustics, Steve added features never seen on
any saxophone, at any price.
For example, there is a third octave key, positioned on the neck, activated by the left thumb.
The use of this key makes your altissimo notes clear and effortless. There is a special vent key in
the upper stack, making the transition between subregisters a non-issue. Dished, pearl-less key
touches defi ne a new, vibrant look, with hand-cut engraving throughout. Finshes are brilliant
silver plate and gold plate, plus Steve’s favorite, black nickel thoughout.
Taken as a whole, features are just one dimension. The proof of a saxophone is in the playing.
You’ll have to play it to believe it, and only at an authorized Orpheus Musical Instruments dealer.
You’ll fi nd a list of them at our website, http://orpheusmusicalinstruments.com/.
No other saxophone has more innovative features.
No other saxophone company puts the name of the designer on the saxophone.
Orpheus Times
Goodson Model Sopranino and Curved
Soprano Saxophones head line-up
San Antonio (Saxophone News Service): Glacially slow is the rate of progress
with saxophones. As long as the saxophonic public still thinks of a certain model
as the pinnacle of the saxophone-maker’s art, despite the fact that it was made
in 1953, certain fearless individuals are trying to install a new paradigm, based
on a scientifi c approach to acoustics and metallurgy.
When Orpheus Musical Instruments asked Steve to design a line of saxophones
without limits, Steve jumped at the chance to further the cause of saxophone
design.
Starting at the top, the Steve Goodson Model Sopranino tames what used
to be known as the Wild Beast. Still made by a couple manufacturers, modern
sopraninos bear a striking resemblence to the sopraninos of yesteryear. Steve
added a half step to the instrument’s range, comfortable, mother-of-pearl key
touches, and the classic look of beaded silver with gold-plated keys. Easy to play
and without the troublesome control issues of yesterday’s designs, the Steve
Goodson Model Sopranino is a welcome addition to any saxophonist’s sonic
pallete.
Th e Steve Goodson Model Curved Soprano Saxophone is so entirely new,
there’s never been one like it on the marketplace. Th e fi nish of the curved soprano
is bright silver, with gorgeous hand-cut engraving. Th e instrument has
a unique tonal balance and a wealth of ergonomic features to keep you playing.
Never before has there been such a curved soprano, with the most modern
keywork and classic design features seen through the prism of designer Steve
Goodson.
Tenor Saxophones have features never seen on any saxophone in the history of
the art and craft of saxophone design.
If you’re willing to dispense with a little orthodoxy, you owe it to yourself to
try a Steve Goodson Model Alto or Tenor at your Orpheus dealer. Why not try
them both?
Th e Goodson Model Altos and Tenors have a unique way of dealing with
the third (altissimo) octave. Th ey have an octave key to make the third octave
more user-friendly. Th e actuator for this key is located on the left-hand
thumb’s key touch, adjacent to the standard octave key. Just press it down, use
the normal altissimo fi ngerings, and the altissimo shouts out!
Th e body to bell brace is unique in that it sits low, allowing greater resonance.
A speaker key in the upper stack vents the stuff y notes on the cusp of the
registers.
Th readed octave pips and a special rifl ed neck start the tone off right, in the
neck. Th e unique neck ring adds to the party, accellerating the air into the
neck.
every step of the way?
A triple-ring strap hook makes it easy to hook up. Th e best pads in the business,
