flaw. I am also the only source I know of that is offering a fair and balanced exploration of the competing “most healing frequency” debate. Is there a “true” vibratory frequency music should be tuned to? Is it 528 Hz, 440 Hz, 432 Hz? Does anyone really know? Is there research, or shall I say, good research? let me give you a few examples. When it comes to research, I’ve been honored and privileged to work with and be mentored by some of the most brilliant and respected scientists in the world, including Itzhak Bentov, Dr. Andrijah Puharich, Dr. Marcel Vogel, Dr. Maxwell Cade, and Dr. Stanley Krippner. I have developed a highly sensitized BS radar, so when I hear several different individuals saying “their CD has the most healing music on the planet,” I naturally have to wonder: can they all be right? It seems more and more often I’m seeing folks asserting “facts” when they are really just their opinions. As a great author said, “You’re entitled to your own opinions. You are not entitled to your own facts.” ... Or to make up facts. When I first went public with my work in 1975, I wanted, and needed, to educate the media and the public about what sound healing entailed. It was important to me to establish a high level of integrity, so that the field couldn’t easily be dismissed. It almost seems as if some of what has gone on has been intentional misinformation and dis-information. We see a lot of this sort of spin and distortion in the presidential campaign. I suppose I was a bit naïve to think the field of sound healing would have more integrity. I share my insights and observations in my newsletters, and offer suggestions on how you can enhance your own sensitivities so you can determine what is best for you, rather than just taking someone else’s word for it. Examples of well-done research would be the studies headed by Dr. Barry Bittman for the REMO percussion company on the healing power of drumming. Brain Wave Synchronization (Photo-Stimulation) with the Shealy RelaxMate (1990) at normshealy.com is a classic in the field. There are many others in the audio sphere indexed by Dr. Eldon Taylor and available on his website, www.EldonTaylor.com The seminal book on brainwave biofeedback is by Dr. C. Maxwell Cade, The Awakened Mind: Biofeedback and the Development of Higher States of Awareness (1979). I had the opportunity to conduct a brief bit of research in his lab on my first visit to london in 1977. He was shocked to see how powerfully my music balanced and entrained the brain to the highest level of functioning, what he termed “The Fifth State.” I’ll share never before revealed details next month. On the other hand, some authors, researchers and recording artists make such outrageous claims that they are just begging to be exposed. This is especially true when I’m directly involved, and know the truth firsthand. Case in point was a book that was first published in 1984, The Secret Power of Music. The first historical chapter covering ancient music in China is accurate; I referenced most every one of his source materials in my own graduate dissertation. However, when he writes “In All of Halpern’s workshops, he states that ...” I know he’s just blowing smoke. First of all, only one person has been in all my workshops and lectures ... and that person is me! If he was even in two or three programs, I’d likely have recognized him as a repeat attendee, or a stalker. Secondly, he misquotes me, or simply makes up a quote from me that is exactly opposite to what I, in fact, have stated. And thirdly, he even spells my name wrong! With a track record like that, how can anyone trust anything else he says? As you’ll see, as ancient mystics and quantum physics tell us, it is no longer a stretch to say that “all life is vibration, all life is music.” I’ll continue to explore the many aspects of the world of sound and music.
