Description:
The project was initiated in order to address the major challenges of modern European
school systems, namely how to teach and learn abstract forms of natural sciences
like mathematics and physics. The substance of the subjects envisaged create
pedagogical challenges in a more and more concrete, practical and life oriented school
environment. The project Fly High is using the theme of aviation to teach maths,
physics and other subjects like geography, economics or languages
The project is targeting secondary school students and teachers, and also vocational
school students and trainers. FlyHigh is producing teaching materials which provide
an appropriate and practically relevant methodology for teaching physics and
mathematics, fostering a problem solving, more self-guided and practically relevant
learning approach. The content of the materials is based on the secondary school
curricula of the countries, taking part in the project, and is composed of separate
modules to be adaptable to various educational systems in the EU.
All results will be available in all partner languages as well as in an English master
version for further use. Fly High also organises a student competition "Fly High
Challenge", and a series of teacher training courses.
