Bistrita municipality has the “George Cosbuc”<br />

Municipal Culture House which operates under the<br />

aegis <strong>of</strong> the mayoralty and owns a per<strong>for</strong>mance hall<br />

on Albert Berger Street no. 10 and an exhibition hall at<br />

Little Square no. 18.<br />

Each <strong>of</strong> the 6 <strong>local</strong>ities in the municipality has a<br />

culture house.<br />

Other cultural activities take place at the Art Galleries<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Plastic Artists’ Union (located in Central<br />

Square), at the Art Gallery <strong>of</strong> the County Department<br />

<strong>for</strong> Art, Cults and Cultural Patrimony in Petru Rares<br />

Square no.1, at the Art gallery <strong>of</strong> the College “Corneliu<br />

Baba”, and in the 6 exhibition halls <strong>of</strong> the County<br />

Museum Complex <strong>of</strong> Bistrita-Nasaud, located on Blvd<br />

Gen. Gh. Balan.<br />

The museum has 6 permanent exhibition halls and 6<br />

temporary exhibitions. A wooden church from the 18th<br />

century (historical monument) is on display inside the<br />

museum as well as a dendrological park.<br />

The architectural reservation <strong>of</strong> the municipality<br />

include the “Andrei Muresanu” statue by the sculptor<br />

Cosbuc” by the sculptor G. Covalschi located at the<br />

entrance to the municipal park, the statue <strong>of</strong> the writer<br />

“Liviu Rebreanu” by Romul Ladea at Unirii Square.<br />

Outside the reservation there are 5 busts: Avram<br />

Iancu by Mircea Mocanu at Petru Rares Square,<br />

George Cosbuc by Mihai Barbu located inside the<br />

County Department <strong>for</strong> Culture, Cults and Cultural<br />

Patrimony, the hospodar Al.I.Cuza, situated in front <strong>of</strong><br />

the Police Station, and “Capul de expresie” along with<br />

5 other commemorative monuments: a monument to<br />

the Jewish people, national heroes, the Russian<br />

soldier, <strong>for</strong>mer political convicts, and the German<br />

monument from Slatinita, as well as a few other<br />

monuments <strong>of</strong> public <strong>for</strong>um (“Praguri”, “Măiastră” and<br />

“Monumentul Veteranilor”).
