The University of Louisville is fortunate to be in one
of the best media markets in the country. With no
professional sports team in the city, all the focus and
attention is directed to the Louisville athletic pro
gram.
Each fall, Louisville hosts numerous national writers and broadcasters
from across the nation as the nation’s most talented and
notable media members cover the Cardinals. The Cardinals were
featured on the cover of numerous publications and had two
legitimate Heisman candidates in Michael Bush and Brian Brohm.
Senior kicker Art Carmody won the Lou Groza Award in 2006
and Brohm is considered one of the top players in the country
again in 2007.
Thanks to one of the best television contracts in the entire country,
fans can tune into see the Cardinals every week on national
television. Last season, the Cardinals made 10 national television
appearances and two of their Thursday night contests against West
Virginia and Rutgers were amongst the highest rated games in the
network’s history. Since 2003, the Cardinals have made 32 television
appearances, which is one of the top marks in the BIG EAST.
