In fact, the Cardinals have had at least one player drafted in each of the last seven years, including 14 over the last three seasons. Since joining the BIG EAST Conference in 2005, the Cardinals have had eight players taken in the NFL Draft. Defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, the 19-year old phenom, was the highest U of L player drafted in school history when he was taken 10th by the Houston Texans, and the first first round draft selection since 1993. With the hiring of Steve Kragthorpe and playing in the BIG EAST Conference, that number should climb with the abundance of talent in the Cardinal program. Louisville hosts NFL scouts at every practice and games. Louisville always hosts its annual Pro Day each March. 2007 Louisville Football • 39
