The University of Louisville teamed with<br />
Nelligan Sports Marketing, Inc. (NSM) in<br />
February of 2002 to allow the Little Falls, New<br />
Jersey based <strong>com</strong>pany to manage its exclusive<br />
athletics marketing rights.<br />

said U of L Director of Athletics Tom Jurich.<br />

hard to position our programs on the national<br />
stage. NSM is helping us extend the reach of<br />
Cardinal Athletics regionally and nationally.<br />

success in maximizing revenue and exposure<br />
for athletic programs makes them an ideal<br />
partner. We placed our confidence in T.J.<br />
Nelligan, Tim Hofferth and their staff to offer a<br />
very creative approach in positioning our<br />

programs. He also<br />
developed and implemented a <strong>com</strong>prehensive<br />
marketing plan for the NFF’s College Football Hall of<br />
Fame.<br />
Penny’s experience includes 10 years in college<br />
athletic administration, having held numerous<br />
positions in sales and marketing, and heading the<br />
external affairs unit for a Division I-A program.<br />
He holds a B.A. in <strong>com</strong>munications from<br />
Augustana College and an M.S. in sports administration<br />
from Western Illinois University.<br />
A Chicago-area native, Penny and his wife,<br />
Colleen, live in Louisville with sons P.J., Christopher<br />
and Robbie and daughter Peytin.<br />
Cardinals’ football program has leaped into the<br />
national scene. Clearly, men’s basketball coach<br />
Rick Pitino to the University of Louisville has<br />
energized the Cards’ tradition-rich program.<br />
Beyond that, it has definitely made Louisville<br />
one of the most marketable programs in<br />
America.”<br />
In addition to presenting the Cardinals’ to<br />
the Fortune 500 <strong>com</strong>panies across the nation,<br />
NSM will also play a key role in developing a<br />
grassroots campaign to market the university<br />
throughout the state and region.<br />
