Post-Game Notes
• U of L won its 14th straight game at home, the
longest winning streak in school history and the
second longest in the nation (behind USC). U of
L is 18-1 in Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium under
head coach Bobby Petrino.
•The Cardinal defense limited Miami to 147
yards in the second half (195 in the first half).
Miami converted on 3-of-12 third down
conversions for the game.
• QB Brian Brohm will have surgery Sunday on
a ligament in his right thumb and could miss
four to six weeks. He left the game with 10:30
remaining in the third quarter with the injury.
He completed 10-of-14 passes for 181 yards and
a touchdown, moving him up to 10th in career
passing yardage.
• QB Hunter Cantwell completed 3-of-4 passes
for 113 yards and a touchdown in relief of
Brohm. Cantwell started the Cardinals’ final two
games last year (vs. Connecticut, Virginia Tech)
when Brohm was out with knee surgery.
•The Louisville offense gained 389 yards,
including 294 though the air. Miami entered the
game seventh nationally in total defense (200.5
yards per game), ninth against the run (41.5) and
39th in pass efficiency defense (105.8).
•In defeating the Huricanes (No. 15 ESPN/USA
Today, No. 17 AP), Louisville improved to 2-3
against Top 25 ranked opponents under Bobby
Petrino.
• The Miami team collectively stomped on the
Cardinal Bird logo in Papa John’s Cardinal
Stadium near the end of pregame warmups. The
visiting had done a similar thing on four
previous occasions: East Carolina, 10/2/04, U of
L won 59-7; USF, 10/22/04, 41-9; Cincinnati, 11/
27/04, 70-7; Rutgers, 11/11/05, 55-5. With
today’s 31-7 victory over Miami, that’s a
collective score of 256-37.

Post-Game Notes
• Head coach Bobby Petrino is 12-1 in the
month of September and is 6-1 on the road.
He’s also 15-3 against non-conference
competition.
• Louisville moved to 4-0 for the third time in
four seasons under head coach Bobby Petrino
(2003, 2004, & 2006).
• The Louisville defense has allowed just two
scores over the last three games. Today, the
Cardinals forced Kansas State into six threeand-outs,
Kansas State had 12 straight
incompletions in the second half, and the
Wildcats converted on just 3-of-16 third down
conversions. Kansas State’s 247 yards in offense
was the Cardinals’ second-best effort of the
season and below what the Cardinals entered
the game allowing (277.3).
• OT Breno Giacomini made his first start at
offensive tackle. George Bussey made his first
start at guard after opening the season as the
starter at offensive tackle.
• QB Hunter Cantwell made his third career
start at quarterback. He opened the game by
hitting on five straight completions for 58 yards
and a score.
• Safety Jon Russell recorded his fourth career
interception and first of the season in the
second quarter and returned it 53 yards.
• WR Jimmy Riley and WR Chris Vaughn
(transfer from Notre Dame) each recorded their
first career receptions in the third quarter. •
Fourteen different receivers have caught passes
for the Cardinals this year.
• RB Brock Bolen rushed for a career-high 53
yards on five carries, including a 17-yd TD run.
• WR Harry Douglas recorded a career-high six
receptions (81 yards). His previous best was
five against Kentucky on 9/3/06, and also had
five against Cincinnati on 10/22/05.
