Former University of Louisville football standout<br />

Greg Brohm begins his fourth season as the Director<br />

of Football Operations with the Cardinals.<br />

Brohm’s duties with the Cardinals are immense.<br />

He handles all the day-to-day operations with the<br />

team, coordinates travel, assists student-athletes with their daily activities and<br />

acts as a liaison with the general public and the football program.<br />

The former Cardinal wideout, <strong>com</strong>es to Louisville after serving one year as<br />

President of the Louisville Fire in the Arena2 Football League.<br />

While with the Fire, he was responsible for all the day-to-day football<br />

operations, including corporate sales, marketing, and all personnel decisions. He<br />

also served as the offensive coordinator on the coaching staff.<br />

Prior to joining the Fire, Brohm served as an account manager for WHAS<br />

Radio and Clear Channel Communications for nine years, where he developed<br />

new clients, promotions and marketing plans. Brohm also served on the WHAS<br />

broadcast team for Cardinal football nine seasons.<br />

Brohm, who graduated from Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in 1993, was<br />

a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for the Cardinals from 1988-92<br />

under head coach Howard Schnellenberger.<br />

He was a starter for the 1991 Fiesta Bowl championship team, catching 11<br />

passes for 138 yards. For his career, Brohm caught 45 passes for 722 yards and<br />

four scores. He was inducted into the Trinity High School Hall of Fame in 2006.<br />

Jason Veltkamp begins his fourth season as the<br />

head strength and conditioning coach for the<br />

football staff at the University of Louisville. Over<br />

the last three seasons he has been an instrumental<br />

part of two conference championships and season<br />

ending trips to the Liberty Bowl, Gator Bowl and Orange Bowl. In his time<br />

with the Cardinals, fourteen players have been selected in the NFL draft.<br />

Veltkamp came to the Derby City after serving as strength and conditioning<br />

coach at the University of Utah from 1999-2004. After two years as<br />

assistant director, he served as the director of strength and conditioning for<br />

three seasons. During his time at Utah, Veltkamp saw the Utes football squad<br />

win two Mountain West Conference championships and make three bowl<br />

appearances including victories over USC in the 2001 Las Vegas Bowl and<br />

Southern Miss in the 2003 Liberty Bowl. In addition, the men’s basketball<br />

team earned three conference titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament on<br />

three occasions.<br />

Veltkamp has overseen the collegiate physical development of three first<br />

round draft picks in Amobe Okoye (DT-Texans), Jordan Gross (OT-Carolina),<br />

Alex Smith (QB-San Francisco) and Andrew Bogut (C-Milwaukee—NBA).<br />

Other notable professional players Veltkamp has worked with during his time at<br />

UofL and Utah include Michael Doleac (Heat), Jason Spitz (Packers), Steve<br />

Smith & Maake Kemoeatu (Panthers), Elvis Dumervil (Broncos), Michael Bush<br />

(Raiders), Kolby Smith (Chiefs) and Kerry Rhodes (Jets).<br />

A native of Bozeman, Mont., spent two years as a graduate assistant at<br />

Utah State University, where he assisted with 14 varsity sports, including<br />

football, basketball, volleyball and track. Prior to his brief stint at Utah State,<br />

Veltkamp was the strength and conditioning coordinator for the Helena Ice<br />

Pirates Junior “A” Hockey Club for the 1996-97 season and worked as a<br />

student assistant & volunteer coach at Carroll College in ’95 & ‘96.<br />

Veltkamp, a graduate of Carroll College was a four-year starter for the<br />

Fighting Saints, where he played for Bob Petrino, Sr. Veltkamp was a two-time<br />

All-Conference performer in 1993 and 1994, and was also a team captain of the<br />

1994 team. He earned his master’s degree in exercise science from Utah State<br />

in 1998 and is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.<br />

He is also a member of the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches<br />

Association. Veltkamp and his wife Kristen have two sons, Caden (4 years old)<br />

and Colton (1 year old).
