Tien Long perceived that difficult <strong>to</strong>pics should be avoided in order <strong>to</strong> prevent<br />

abandoning difficult messages. He described that “message abandonment” was like<br />

leaving a blank for unknown questions in <strong>the</strong> test:<br />

Abandonment strategy was a strategy that I should rarely use. The method for<br />

preventing abandonment <strong>of</strong> difficult messages was that I would avoid difficult<br />

<strong>to</strong>pics in <strong>the</strong> very beginning, so I would not come across a difficult word. If I<br />

really had <strong>to</strong> say a word that I had not yet learned in English, I would use <strong>the</strong><br />

o<strong>the</strong>r strategies <strong>to</strong> explain. I did not think skipping it or escaping from it was<br />

a positive attitude. It was like you should never leave a blank for a question<br />

on your test sheet. We should always try <strong>to</strong> answer and try <strong>to</strong> achieve.<br />

Using message abandonment strategy is like when you jump over a huge<br />

s<strong>to</strong>ne that is located in <strong>the</strong> middle <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> road. Sometimes, you think it wastes<br />

<strong>to</strong>o much time and effort <strong>to</strong> move away <strong>the</strong> huge s<strong>to</strong>ne, so you perceive you<br />

should just jump over it. However, you may not arrive at <strong>the</strong> destination when<br />

you carelessly jump over <strong>the</strong> huge s<strong>to</strong>ne and make your legs hurt.<br />

Pei Pei, in her first interview, pointed out that message abandonment released<br />

her obsession, but she changed her mind and suggested that message abandonment<br />
