SEMMELWEIS UNIVERSITY<br />

Hungarian is a compulsory subject. Students of Medicine and Pharmacy study Hungarian<br />

(Hungarian Medical Terminology) for 5 semesters, whereas for students of Dentistry the subject is<br />

compulsory for 6 semesters (Hungarian Medical terminology in semesters 1-4 and Hungarian<br />

Dental Terminology in semesters 5-6).<br />

Students who are in their 1 st year:<br />

At the end of the first semester students are required to take an exam (written and oral). Students<br />

have 4 classes a week, are expected to write minimum 2 tests during the semester and are<br />

granted 4 credits for the successful completion of the exam.<br />

In semester 2 students take 4 classes a week, are required to write minimum 2 tests and are<br />

granted 2 credits for the successful completion of the semester.<br />

Students who are in their 2 nd year:<br />

In semesters 3-4 students take 4 classes a week, are required to write minimum 2 tests and are<br />

granted 2 credits for the successful completion of the semester.<br />

Students in their 3rd year:<br />

At the end of semester 5 (semester 6 for Dentistry students) students are required to take the<br />

final exam and are granted 2 credits for the successful completion of the exam. The final exam is a<br />

prerequisite for starting the fourth year.<br />

For students of Medicine and Pharmacy, in semester 5 Hungarian (Hungarian Medical terminology)<br />

is compulsory with 4 classes per week, students are required to take the final exam at the end of<br />

the semester and will be granted 2 credits for the successful completion of the exam. The final<br />

exam is a prerequisite for starting the fourth year.<br />

For Dentistry students, Hungarian (Hungarian Dental Terminology) is compulsory in semesters 5-6<br />
