5. Case reports should not include patients’ personal data (name, birth date, insurance<br />

number, etc). Only those practice places are acceptable where the release of the<br />

case report is not forbidden by law. Students completing the internship abroad have to<br />

present at the exam the CERTIFICATE in which the tutor has indicated their performance<br />

during the internship on the scale: excellent-satisfactory-unsatisfactory and commented on<br />

their strengths and weaknesses.<br />

Without these documents students are not allowed to take their final exam in Psychiatry.<br />

Please note that the Final Examination in Psychiatry cannot be taken in the 4 th week of the<br />

rotation, just after the completion of 4 full weeks.<br />

7. It is important to bring to the final exam this signed certificate of the practice the case report<br />

(or a detailed report of the case report by the tutor on a separate sheet of paper)<br />

FAMILY MEDICINE IN DAILY PRACTICE<br />

Tutor: Dr. Péter Torzsa<br />

During practice, treatment of patients is carried out with continuous consultation.<br />

The student should:<br />

– master the basics of treatment of acute cases;<br />

– gain insight into the everyday practice of ongoing treatment of patients and the care of the<br />

chronically sick;<br />

– form an opinion of the importance of the doctor-patient and nurse-patient relationship;<br />

– besides treating patients, encounter social and family problems that have an influence on health;<br />

– having gained the necessary knowledge and experience, prepare – under the GP tutor’s supervision<br />

– an independent case study, and carry out treatment independently;<br />

– take part in home visits;<br />

– keep a continuous documentary record of observations and experience in a practice diary.<br />

If the student wishes to complete the internship outside Hungary, the following<br />

instructions are to be followed:<br />

Objectives of the course<br />

SEMMELWEIS UNIVERSITY / FACULTY OF MEDICINE<br />

1. To introduce the medical care outside the hospital, giving an opportunity to study the<br />

characteristics of work in general practice.<br />

2. To help to manage patient members of a family who have problems (not only diseases) with<br />

their physical, psychological and social aspects.<br />

3. To provide an opportunity to improve students’ clinical skills.<br />

Structure of the course<br />

2 weeks = 10 workdays; working together with a GP tutor in his office and accompanying him/her<br />

on house calls:<br />

4 consulting hours/day<br />

10 house calls/2 weeks<br />
