Content<br />

Introduction: Definition and goals of emergency medicine. The<br />

chain of emergency patient care. Emergency medical systems in<br />

Hungary: connections, patient pathways and disposition<br />

on-the-scene and in-hospital. Decisions and priorities during<br />

emergency care according to dependency level. Role and tasks of<br />

the emergency department (ED) in hospital systems.<br />

Recommendations, protocols and algorythms during emergency<br />

care. Triage in the field and in the ED. Intrahospital emergency<br />

care (MET).<br />

Emergency patient evaluation – ABCDE approach and it’s<br />

patophysiological and clinical background.<br />

CPR I. The chain of survival. Pathophysiology of resuscitation.<br />

BLS-AED. Out-of-hospital CPR.<br />

C. Circulatory failure, hypotension, heart failure, hypertensive<br />

crisis. Pathophysiology, differential diagnosis, treatment in the<br />

field and in the ED. Peri-arrest arrhythmias.<br />

D. Differential diagnosis and management of altered mental state.<br />

Organic and metabolic causes. Management of convulsion.<br />

Management of meningitis. Process of stroke management from<br />

first responder to definitive treatment. Psychiatric emergencies.<br />

Differential diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic pain in<br />

the field and in the ED. Pain syndromes. Pain management,<br />

analgo-sedation, narcosis. Causes and management of fever<br />

on-the-scene and int he ED.<br />

Gastrointestinal symptomes (vomitus, diarrhoea, obsipation,<br />

bloody stool). Measures in case of acute infectious disease.<br />

Acute abdominal pain. Differential diagnosis and treatment of<br />

acute OB/GYN problems in the field and in the ED. Emergency<br />

management of labor and delivery out-of-hospital.<br />
