to ignore the issues that affect these populations. Hip-hop, the poetry
of disaffected urban American youth, 10 will make its way into and out
of these crowded urban spaces, in voices of hope, revolution,
resistance, anger, and, for the foreseeable future, darkness and decay.
Most voices will remain young and black, others will be white, and yet
others Latina/o and mestiza/o. They will join the expanding range of
hip-hop, changing and refashioning the worlds it engages.
