BRENDA MILLER
Currently: I've been living in Berkeley California for 7 years. I am a Senior Research
Scientist working on prevention studies funded by the National Institutes of
Health. Projects have been in Thailand and India, and I have learned a lot from
observing how much of the world lives their daily lives. I feel very fortunate and it
has been a good reminder of what is important "to live." Other projects are in
the Bay Area. Most of my work is on family-based prevention strategies for
preventing risky teen behavior. One project is related to risky behaviors among
young adults in the club scene. That project is generally fun! Club patrons,
owners, managers, promoters, staff, are all generally in a good mood!
Interesting stuff about the last 40 years: I enjoy the Bay Area and the relative ease
of living here after many years in Buffalo, New York. I do not miss the winter
weather! Enjoying the many opportunities to connect with the out-of-doors that is
literally right out my door----I live near Tilden Park and the acres of natural area
that I can access. My step-son has a 4 1/2 year old and I am enjoying being able to
see a new generation take on life...and reconnecting with what it is like to be
young again. My parents and extended family still live in and around Normal so I
manage to visit occasionally.
Robin has my contact information and would enjoy hearing from long-ago (but not
old!) friends.
