(3) Guidance for Classification
A) Judgment of Not applicable
1) Gases and liquid substances shall be judged as “Not applicable”.
2) Organic substances which do not contain oxygen, fluorine, or chlorine or which contain
any of these elements that are bound to carbon or hydrogen only shall be judged “Not
applicable”.
3) Inorganic substances not containing oxygen or any halogen element shall be judged “Not
applicable”.
B) Classification based on TDG Classification
If the name of a substance is included in TDG classification, the substance shall be
classified according to it. If not, it falls under “Classification not possible” in principle.
(4)Data availability
Few experimental data on oxidative materials have been published.
(5)Comparison with conventional classification systems
The classification criteria of GHS2.14.2 are equivalent to the definition of UNRTDG
Classification 5.1 “Solid“(UNRTDG2.5.2.2.2).
In ERG, oxidative materials (including Liquids) are classified into Schedules 140, 141, 142, 143
and 144, but it does not serve as a reference for this GHS classification. In EmS, oxidative
materials (including Liquids) are classified into Schedule S-Q.
(6)Sources of information for classification results under conventional systems
