2. Batial soft bottom dominated by Funiculina quadrangularis DESCRIPTION: In the Eastern Cantabrian Sea OCEANA has recorded batial areas dominated by Funiculina quadrangularis. They are developed always in soft bottoms, mainly muddy substrate although some areas are dominated by mixed mud-sandy sediments. The substrate is heavily bioturbated by burrowing megafauna with burrows and mounds. There is also other group that creates large concentrations in this continental shelf, the cnidarians Cerianthus membranaceus.
