1. Infralittoral detritic and soft bottom dominated by Veretillum cynomorium<br />

DESCRIPTION: Within the Rías Baixas (Galicia, Spain), between 15 and 20 m depth, very large fields of<br />

Veretillum cynomorium are formed over bioclast bottoms. In these detrictic bottoms made up by remains of<br />

shell debris, brittle stars (Ophiocomina nigra) are very common, forming up abundant facies mixed with the<br />

Veretillum cynomorium fields. Other echinoderms are also abundant in these communities forming this<br />

way the more abundant and diverse group. In some areas rhodoliths are also found.<br />

TYPE OF SUBSTRATE: detritic subtrate with bioclast and shell debris.<br />
