Caves and overhangs with red coral Corallium rubrum on rocky circalittoral bottom DESCRIPTION: Gardens of Corallium rubrum can be considered micro-habitats that develop on rocky overhangs, many times on rocky walls covered by oysters (Neopycnodonte cf. cochlear). Covering the rock there are also a lot of desmosponges that could not be identified from the ROV images. On these same walls it is also common to find echinoderms (Centrostephanus longispinus, Astrospartus mediterraneus and Marthasterias glacialis) and cnidarians (Dendrophyllia cornigera, Parazoanthus axinellae). DEPTH: 70 - 110 m TYPE OF SUBSTRATE: Rocky bottom, on vertical walls, ceilings and overhangs.
