The Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency (AWEX) is the Wallonia - Region of 

Belgium’s government agency in charge of foreign trade promotion and foreign investment 

attraction. 

The agency has a worldwide network of 107 Economic and Trade Attachés. 

AWEX is ISO 9001 certified since April 2002. 

As a foreign trade agency, the AWEX carries out a mission of promotion and information for the 

benefit of both Wallonia and the foreign business community. 

Upon request, the AWEX assists buyers, decision-makers, importers and foreign prospects by: 

> Providing economic data on Wallonia and its export potential 

> Disseminating information on products and services from companies located in Wallonia 

> Identifying companies in Wallonia for international partnerships

As an export partner for Wallonia-based companies, the AWEX offers a wide range of

As a foreign investment agency, the AWEX - via its Office for Foreign Investors (OFI) - has an overall 

responsibility for the attraction of foreign investment in Wallonia. This includes seeking out and 

providing information to potential foreign investors. The Agency also offers a pro-active follow-up 

service to investors already established in Wallonia. In addition, it is in charge of identifying new 

foreign investors for the acquisition of industrial sites under restructuring.

Die Wallonische Exportförderungs- und Auslandsinvestitionsagentur ist eine Einrichtung der 

wallonischen Region Belgiens, die sich mit der Förderung des Außenhandels und der 

Auslandsinvestitionen befasst. Die Agentur verfügt über ein weltweites Netzwerk von 

107 Wirtschafts- und Handelsattachés. Seit April 2002 ist die Agentur ISO 9001: 2000-zertifiziert.

In Vitro Diagnostics (BioWin/WAL-DX) 

BioWin is the health competitiveness cluster of Wallonia, a region of Belgium (South of Brussels). 

Created in July 2006, its ambition is to federate all stakeholders from Wallonia participating in innovation 

and training in the field of biotechnology and health. 

Its objectives are to create a new culture of openness and partnership favourable to innovation in 

Wallonia, to train, attract and retain in Wallonia a human capital of excellence, to help the edification 

of collective infrastructures and technological platforms, and to promote internationally the 

strengths of the Walloon region in the area of Health biotechnology and medical technologies. 

Wallonia can pride itself on having everything that is needed for the elaboration, development, 

production and distribution of the most effective diagnostic products. The BioWin working group 

WAL-Dx gathers around 30 members active in the area of in vitro diagnostic. They operate in a range 

of niches, from academic research to development, from the production of diagnostic tests and 

equipment to support technologies. 

WAL-Dx/BioWin is co-founder, with Euromediag/Eurobiomed (Montpellier, France) of the European 

Diagnostic Clusters Alliance, a unique platform that gathers European regions active in the field of

> Analis is a distributor of scientific laboratory equipment. Its ‘Analis R&D Diag’ unit develops diagnostic 

IVD kits, using electrophoretic and capillary electrophoretic techniques (CEofix-Kit): 

kits for clinical and research laboratories appropriate for diagnostics, detection and analysis of 

compounds, follow-up and treatment of pathologies. 

There is a wide application field, including prevention and safety (diagnostic kit for the follow-up 

of alcohol dependance and alcohol abuse), health and preventive follow-up of children (detection 

kit for hemoglobin variants)... 

This division also offers assistance in developing new applications based on capillary electrophoresis. 

The aim of ‘Analis R&D Diag’ is to develop its exportation network by looking for specialized 

distributors, given the specificity of its products. Moreover, the R&D Diag unit of Analis 

is seeking every collaboration that could completely exploit their expertise in the field of electrophoresis 

and capillary electrophoresis. This would lead to the development of new diagnostic 

kits, new analysis methods or production of OEM products. 

> Analis vertreibt Laborinstrumente in den Benelux-Ländern. Der Geschäftsbereich „R&D Diagnosis» 

entwickelt seit über 25 Jahren Elektrophorese- und (CE) Kapillarelektrophorese- Kits 

(CEofix). Dieser Geschäftsbereich bietet Support-Dienste an und ist aufgeschlossen für Ideen 

und Projekte im Bereich der hochauflösenden Kapillarelektrophorese (CE). 

Die auf der MEDICA vorgestellten CEofix-Kits für CE werden für klinische Routine- und 

Forschungseinsätze verwendet: 

• Der CDT-Kit (Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin) wird zur Ermittlung von Alkoholmissbrauch 

sowie angeborener Glykosylierungsstörungen (CDG) eingesetzt. 

• Die Hämoglobin-Analyse umfasst Thalassämie- und Variantenanalysen. 

• Zudem sind erhältlich: Kits für Agarosegel-Elektrophorese und weitere generische Puffer
