The courses focused on current debates about the origins, functions, and uses of language
(“Language and Evolution”) and theorizing revolution in the modern Chinese intellectual
history, respectively (“Literature and Revolution”).

May 2006: Visiting Professor at Ghent University, Belgium, as part of the
Erasmus Academic Exchange Program.
2001–present: Editor of the Romanian Journal of Chinese Studies.
2001–2004: Convener of the conferences organized by the Chinese
Department in 2001 (“Re-reading the Zhuangzi”) and 2003 (“Reading (in)
China”). Co-convener of the 2004 conference (“Nature and Culture in
China and Japan”).
1998–1999: Helped set up Duke University’s program in Romanian
language and culture (part of its Slavic and East-European program), by
co-teaching classes, preparing materials, etc.
1997–2001: Participated in numerous radio shows on themes related to
Chinese and Asian culture. The shows were hosted by the cultural
channel of the Romanian National Public Radio and the BBC.
