4.1-Enterobacteria in Chicken<br />

specimens.<br />

Out a total of 295 samples obtained from livers and<br />

spleen of broilers, one day old chicks and layers, 245<br />

samples were recovered as Enterobacterial isolates with<br />

prevalence rate 83.05% of total number. 205 out of<br />

295(69.49%) isolates were lactose fermenter isolates (table<br />

3, fig.1). Fourty isolates were recovered as non-lactose<br />

fermenter isolates with prevalence rate 13.55% of total<br />

isolates.<br />

One hundred and twenty five samples collected from<br />

broiler and 170 samples collected from both one day old<br />

chicks and layers. (4,5). Only 107 isolates from a total of<br />

125(85.6%) samples from broiler were recovered.<br />

77/125(61.6%) as lactose fermenter, meanwhile<br />

30/125(24%) were recovered as non lactose fermenter (<br />

table 4).<br />

Concerning specimens from layers and one day old<br />

chicks, Incidence of obtained isolates as lactose fermenter<br />

and non lactose fermenter from each farm ( table 5 )<br />

revealed that only 138 isolates from a total of<br />

170(81.1%)samples from broiler were recovered.<br />

128/170(75.2%) were lactose fermenter, meanwhile<br />

10/170(5.88%) were recovered as non lactose fermenter.<br />
