species (11.5%), Citrobacter species (46.2%) and Enterobacter species
(7.7%).
Zaki et al (2002) collected 90 water samples from broiler farms
(30 each). Coliforms were counted in reservoir tanks and drinkers as,
97.53 and 4017.5 cells/100 ml water respectively Proteus,
Pseudomonas, Klebsiella, Entrobacter and Citrobacter species were
identified in reservoir tanks as, 11 (8.27%), 10 (7.52%), 13 (9.77%),
13 (9.77%) and 8 (6.02%) respectively, meanwhile, in drinking water
as, 14 (8.48%), 10 (6.06%), 18 (10.9%), 20 (12.12%) and 9 (5.45%),
respectively.
2.2. Antimicrobial sensitivity pattern for E. Coli
El-Bakry et al. (1983) carried out sensitivity test on 30 isolates
of E.coli (isolated from dead baby chicks) against furazolidone,
gentamicin, tetracycline and chloramphenical. The ratio of sensitive
strains to the totally tested ones were 80% (furazolidone), followed by
70% (neomycin), 63% (gentamycin), 40% (choramphenicol) and 20%
(tetracyclin).
Giurov (1985) tested the susceptibility of 223 strains of E.coli to
therapeutic agents with disk diffusion method. The organisms were
Isolated from internal organs of birds died with colispticaemia.
Serotyping revealed that O:1, O:2, O:4, O:8, O:26, O:78, O:111,
O:103, O:141 and un-typable serotypes were 41, 70, 2, 3, 1, 70, 2, 1, 1
and 32 in number resepectively. Highest number of strains proved
sensitive to colistin (96.06%), the remaining drugs following in a
descending order: flumequine (95.65%), amikacin (88.57%) car-
