• Tunnel Mode<br />
Tampering with this option can alter the usability of applications, i.e. from weird effects to crashes with data loss.<br />
The available modes are UDP, TCP and Hybrid. The mode Hybrid combines the best of both connection<br />
types: reliability of TCP and response of UDP.<br />
• Tunnel Rekey Time<br />
Time in minutes after which client and server exchange new keys.<br />
• Tunnel Encryption<br />
Several different encryption schemes, such as AES, CAST, Blowfish, etc.<br />
• Tap device<br />
Defines the tap device used <strong>for</strong> the <strong>VPN</strong> tunnel. <strong>Linux</strong> now uses the universal TUN/TAP<br />
driver. There<strong>for</strong>e use /dev/net/tun as tap device.<br />
• Keepalive<br />
This parameter defines the timeout <strong>for</strong> re-connecting the tunnel. When having a GPRS connection<br />
this value should be increased to avoid permanently reconnects due to dropouts.<br />
• Configure DNS<br />
With Yes selected the system’s DNS configuration is replaced with the <strong>VPN</strong> provided one,<br />
and the <strong>VPN</strong> domain configured on the <strong>VPN</strong> server is added to the search path in<br />
/etc/resolv.conf. With No selected, the <strong>VPN</strong> provided DNS configuration is ignored.<br />
Merge effects that the <strong>VPN</strong> provided DNS configuration is merged to the system’s DNS configuration.<br />
On <strong>Linux</strong> and <strong>OpenBSD</strong> the configuration is saved to the plain text ASCII-file<br />
/etc/barracudavpn/barracudavpn2.conf.<br />
On <strong>Mac</strong> <strong>OS</strong> X The configuration is saved to the plain text<br />
ASCII-file /System/Library/barracudavpn/barracudavpn2.conf.
