1.1 General 3 Chapter 1 Installation The following explains how to install and configure the Barracuda VPN client on your client computer running under Linux, OpenBSD or Mac OS X. You need to know these configuration parameters: You can get all thers information from your network administrator. • IP address and port of the Barracuda VPN server • local password for your license • server password • several connection-dependent parameters explained below • For the VPN client installation the following requirements are essential: 1.2 Procedure • recent linux-distribution • required license (one of the following, depending on authentication type): • Barracuda personal license • x.509 certificate • no license required for user/password authentication 1.) Get the appropriate installation package If there is an older version of the Barracuda VPN Client installed, it must be removed manually using rm /usr/local/bin/barracudavpn, since older versions were not package based, and thus the installation of Barracuda VPN Client will fail. • RPM package based Linux systems For RPM package based Linux systems (Novell/SuSE or RedHat/Fedora), there are two RPM packages: barracudavpn-20-SP2.i386.rpm contains the dynamically linked Barracuda VPN client for Linux, barracudavpn-2.0-SP2_STATIC.i386.rpm the statically linked one. Use the statically linked client, if some dependencies of the dynamically linked one are not satisfied on the target system. Install the package as root with the command rpm -Uh barracudavpn-2.0-SP2.i386.rpm
