This congress celebrates the 50 th anniversary of the Union founded in Meyrargues , not far from Monaco. For the first time, a meeting of the UIP is organized by two countries in the capital of the third one. These facts explain the name and the logo of the meeting. The phlebological community can be proud of the progress obtained in the last fifteen years. Care given to venous patients is more and more efficient, quick, painless and durable. The incidence of most severe forms of chronic venous disorders decreases because we have treated patients earlier and better. The new electronic media have accelerated diffusion of information and international cooperation. And finally, Evidence Based Phlebology exits. This meeting will be the occasion to summarize the latest progress, to update our knowledge and to devise new research, it is the place where you will meet with colleagues and make new friends from overseas. We are certain that you will enjoy the program, the venue, the country and all the opportunities that we have planned for you.
