MARCHING BAND FESTIVAL: <strong>The</strong> registration report was presented and explained. This year’s event<br />

experienced poor weather with one site, Davenport, being cancelled. 6 more bands participated in this<br />

year’s event.<br />

SHOW CHOIR, JAZZ CHOIR, JAZZ BAND FESTIVALS: MMS (Philgreen/Stogdill) to delete the<br />

regulation requiring that 50% of these ensembles be of 9th grade status. PASSED<br />

Tyler Harper spoke to the Executive Committee concerning the possibility of bringing the <strong>Iowa</strong> Jazz Choir<br />

Championships under the umbrella of the <strong>IHSMA</strong>. Director Greiner was instructed to put together a pros<br />

and cons list for the board to consider.<br />

Potential appointments for the vacant NW District Advisory Group position were discussed. Director<br />

Greiner was instructed to contact Dr. John Chalstrom, Cherokee and notify him of the boards appointment<br />

pending his consent.<br />

DAG CONCERNS (NOT COVERED IN THE AGENDA): Than Chesher suggested that the director<br />

contact Rod Pierson, JEI about timeline modifi cations his organization wished to discuss. Mike Stittsworth<br />

suggested the board consider development of an <strong>IHSMA</strong> message board on the <strong>IHSMA</strong> website.<br />

ASSOCIATION CONCERNS: MMS (Philgreen/Teigland) to develop a tool for uploading and online<br />

delivery of digital adjudicator comments via the <strong>IHSMA</strong> website. PASSED Director Greiner was instructed<br />

to look into the possibility of a Transfer tool that would transfer Solo-Small Ensemble ballot data from<br />

a local database to the <strong>IHSMA</strong> website replacing the current data collection process. <strong>The</strong> director was<br />

instructed to begin developing a tool that would allow for online adjudication of all our festivals. Executive<br />

Committee members provided a review of sessions attended and topics found at the National Federation<br />

Summer Meeting held in Nashville this past June. <strong>The</strong> board was canvassed for topics they would like<br />

to see at this next summers meeting. <strong>The</strong> Director presented a review of the New Director Orientation<br />

Sessions and Adjudicator Certifi cation Sessions presented. A review of the policies of the <strong>IHSMA</strong> was<br />

conducted. MMS (Elliot/Philgreen) to provide a $300 IAAE membership. PASSED MMS (Teigland/<br />

Philgreen) to send an amendment to the member schools allowing for an online election process. PASSED<br />

Offi cers for the 2012-2013 year will be President – Jim Fritz; Vice-President – Duane Philgreen, and<br />

Treasurer – Kathy Elliot. It was determined that the January meeting should be held at the <strong>Iowa</strong> Hall of<br />

Pride.<br />

MINUTES OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTRONIC MEETING<br />

NOVEMBER 27, 2012<br />

<strong>The</strong> Executive Committee of the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Association</strong> met via electronic correspondence<br />

for the purpose of amending the Executive Directors contract to allow for a Health Savings Account option<br />

to the Health Insurance Plan. Executive Committee members present were: Duane Philgreen, Manchester;<br />
