FORWARD The district abstract is a comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political and economic organisation of the district. It provides in a single convenient reference, the most useful available current data, for the District. Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the data. Responsibility for errors in reproduction of data or in calculation however is assumed to be of the District Planning Unit. The user is urged to read carefully the notes at the beginning of each chapter and any footnotes accompanying the tables. Much of the value of the abstract lies in its many references to other sources of information. Every effort has been made to provide abstract users with the most complete data collection possible. Special thanks go to District Planning Unit staff for their tireless efforts towards the preparation of this Abstract. I appeal to everyone to appreciate and use the abstract as a convenient volume for statistical reference and as a guide to sources of more information. It is my hope that the document will be of great importance to data users. Yaguma Wilberforce CHAIRPERSON MBARARA DISTRICT LOCAL GOVERNMENT 5
